I'm trying to figure out just how much decorating I really need to do for my wedding reception. I already know what I'm doing for centerpieces. The place has white lights that they leave up year-round for events. What else do I need?

maybe something on the cake table and also the gift table. White lights that are hanging don't need much else or it takes away from the beauty and simplicity of them.

depending on what you want, your color scheme... you want something simple. I've seen place cards on tables, small party favors (usually mints or bubble bottles) placed on tables. Perhaps a few decorative flower stands in the hall or event room if you feel the need, otherwise the white lights and centerpieces with white table cloths and settings should be nice. Simplicity is key. Too much will make it look tacky.

Hi and congratulations! I think it all depends on how much you want to spend not only money wise but time too. I'm decorating my Gift Table, Guest Book Table, Candy Bar, two huge glass floral arrangements for the dance floor, I will have pink and green paper lanterns hanging on top of the dance floor ceiling. If your place already has the white lights that's awesome, they look so pretty when the lights are deemed. Also, if you have not done so, log on to the knot.com they have checklists you can use a guides...Again, Congratulations ! Good look with everything!

Don't forget the cake table and the bridal party table! You could put something up on the gift table, just so it doesn't look plain compared to everything else. Really it just depends on how much money you want to spend.

Do you have a picture of what the inside of the room looks like? It will be much easier to advise you what decorations you need...you may not need any depending on the space...

I would do something around the cake table, since that's a big photo op area. Maybe pipe & drape behind the cake table. Another area to think about is the entrance. Create an arch or drape fabric to soften the entrance as guests arrive. Guests typically linger there a little longer as they drop off gifts and sign the guest book. Incorporate some decor around the buffet to tie in your theme. Also, nd often overlooked place, the restroom. Place a small flower arrangement on the counter. Also include a small basket of toiletries for your guests: hairspray, mints, etc.
