My fiance' and I are having an outdoor, Old English style wedding--think Knightley's version of Pride &Prejudice--inspired by a wonderful old spring (hopeflly our location) I found in the middle of a family friend's field. It has a stone floor, huge white columns, and a peaked roof. I'll be wearing a beautiful gown by Camilla in white with crystal beading, silver stitching, and an empire waist. My maid of honor and bridesmaids will be wearing red dresses in a similar cut, but simpler style. My fiance' and his groomsmen will be wearing white poet shirts--no frills of, course. Visit this link to see a picture:http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii2/always_kaitlin/Poetshirt.jpgThen I ran into a problem. Where can I find AFFORDABLE period trousers and footwear for them? A shirt is not enough to walk down the aisle in =]Thanks in advance!

Hi i think that most trousers you get in bridal shops (the lightly pin stripe ones) would fit in with the theme or could always go for the mr Darcy stockings and short pants

Have you considered looking at costume shops or period reenactment suppliers? I found a few websites that have decently priced trousers-- check out this one, for instance: http://tudorshoppe.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MPB -- the Locksley Pants or the Cotton Trews might work for you. It's not exactly the time period you're looking at, but you can pull it off if you have the shirt you're looking for.I've listed a few more links you might try in the "source" section.

I don't know if it's affordable, but check out this site.http://herbalmusings.com//mens_renaissance_clothing.htmIf you live in a big enough city, you might also check out costume stores (halloween costumes) and see if they have anything decent that you could rent or buy.Good Luck.
