my teacher said i playirized on this summary of can any TEACHERS please tell me if this is true? it would help me soooo much!!! and if you think i did.. what website did you find it on? how do you know? i am in 9th grade. this is my essay: Summary of great expectations by Charles dickensThis story is about a young boy named Philip Pirrip who calls himself “Pip”. He has never met or seen his parents because they died when he was young. He lives with his sister, Mrs.Joe Gargery, and her husband, Joe Gargery. Pip In the beginning of the book, is seen in a graveyard looking down at his family’s graves. This is when pip starts crying and a man with an iron leg appears telling him to get him a file and wittles or else he will kill him. Pip realizes that he is the escaped convict, So Pip does what he is told and brings the man a file and wittles, which he feels very guilty for stealing. When he goes to find the man, he accidentally finds a second convict who is the enemy of the first one. Later on, both of them are captured. Then Pips uncle, Mr.Pumblechook, takes Pip to the home of Miss.Havisham where he meets her daughter named Estella. Miss.Havisham is also extremely wealthy and is extremely weird in the fact that she still wears her old wedding dress. When Pip meets Estella, she seems to treat Pip coldly, but somehow Pip liked her. Pip keeps visiting Estella, and he meet her relatives who seem to dislike him. Pip and one of her relatives even get into a fight. Miss.Havisham helps Pip to work for Joe who is a blacksmith. Pip works hard and fulfills his obligations. Orlick also works for Joe, and he dislikes Mrs. Gargery (Pips sister.) One day Mr.Jaggers, a lawyer, visits Pip and Joe to tell them that Pip has received a lot of money, and he is to come to London to become a gentleman. Pip assumes the money is from Miss.Havisham because he believes he wants her and Estella to be together. In London, Pip meets Mr.Jaggers and his assistant Mr. Wemmick. Mr.Wemmick takes him to visit a man named Herbert Pocket, and later he finds out that this is Estella’s relative whom he got into a fight with. He and Herbert become good friends. Pip begins to work with a man named Matthew Pocket who is Herbert’s father, and who teachers him how to be a gentleman. That’s when Pip decides to move in with the Pocket family. He then meets Startop and Bentley Drummle. Pip does not like Bentley at all. One day, Joe comes to visit Pip to deliver a message from Miss.Havenisham , but he is ashamed. Pip decides goes to visit her anyways. Miss.Havishan tells Pip that Estella is coming with him to back to London. Pip believes that Miss.Havishham wants Estella and him to be together. When they go back to London Pip becomes friends with Mr.Jaggers assistant (Mr. Wemmick). He is also starting to find out that his and Herbert’s debts are starting to get dangerously high, so he starts up a business. When Pips sister dies, he goes to visit her funeral. There, he realizes how long he has been away from home, leavening Joe behind. When he gets back to London, he sees an old stranger who he finds out is the convict from the graveyard when he was a little boy. He finds out that his name is Magwitch, and that he had to go away to Australia to never return to England. Magwitch then tells his story of how he became rich and how he was the one who Pip received the money from. That’s when he realizes that it was not Miss.Havisham who provided the money. Magwitch then tells Pip that he gave him the money because of how he helped him at the graveyard . He is also told him that the other convict was named Compeyson. Magwitch also informs him that it was Compeyson who left Miss.Havisham. Pip then finds out that Magwitch is Estellas father. Pip decides that he must help Magwitch get out of England safely. Later, Pip is saddened when he hears the news of Estella planning on getting married to Bentley Drummle. He then visits Miss.Havisham and Estella to announce how much he loves her and that he would be happy for her to marry anyone but Bentley Drummle. Sadly, they still continue on with their marriage. When Pip gets back to London, Mr.Wemmick informs him that Compeyson is watching Magwitch very closely, so they come up with a plan to get Magwitch to safely escape. Pip then gets a note saying for him to meet at the graveyard. So he goes, but first he visits Miss.Havisham to apologize. She forgives him and decides to pay for Herberts business. When Pip begins to leave he stops and goes back only to find that Miss.Havishams dress is on fire. He saves her life. When he gets to the graveyard, Orlick captures him and wants to kill him. He is saved by Herbert who came with him to the graveyard. They both go back to London to set up the escape of Magwitch. They are planning to sneak him down the river on a rowboat. Unfortunately, Compeyson tips the police of their plan, and they are caught. Magwitch and Compeyson fight together in the river. Compeyson drowns and dies, and Magwitch is only slightly hurt. He is then sentenced to the death penalty, which means Pip lost the wealth. Later on, Pip starts to become ill, and Joe comes to London to help and care for him in his time of need. Joe also tells him of news from home. He tells him that Orlick is in jail for robbing Mr.Pumblechoock and that Miss. Havisham died and left her possessions to Mr.Pocket. Next, Pip goes back home and plans on marrying Biddy, but as it turns out, she and Joe were planning on getting married that day. Pip goes with Herbert Pocket to work on his business instead.Eleven years later he goes back to visit Joe and Biddy. He meets their son who they have decided to name “Pip” after him. He then sees Estella, and they decide to separate as friends.I believe Charles Dickens is trying to say that in the end, things like friendliness, caring, faithfulness, and morality will always be more important than things like social class and money. Also, that even if your circumstances of living change, the person you are and your character doesn’t really change. For example Pip was still Pip even if he had education and money. The problem was that he went against his own character in his actions towards Joe and Biddy.

In any case YOU know whether or not you plagiarised this or not... if you did you should rewrite your essay in your own words and do your own research...IF YOU DIDNT copy it you should appeal this accusation !best of luck !

Yes. there are web sites that teachers download their student's essays into and they come up with matches of language that is identical (and usually not typical for the student's writing skill level.)Here are some examples I found of your writing that is exactly from the same web site. comnow.info/like-callsthey advertise study guides for Dickens books."When they go back to London Pip becomes friends with Mr.Jaggers assistant (Mr. Wemmick). He is also starting to find out that his and Herbert’s debts are starting to get dangerously high, so he starts up a business.""Mr.Wemmick takes pip to visit a man named Herbert Pocket, and later pip finds out that this is Estella’s relative whom he got into a fight with...""When Pip gets back to London, Mr.Wemmick informs him that Compeyson is watching Magwitch very closely, so they come up with a plan to get Magwitch to safely escape..."Unfortunately some students spend more time looking up work on line and not using their own minds. It is not smart or clever to plagiarize and it ruins your reputation. english teachers are smart and experiencesd and will find you out if you cheat.

How in the world can you plagiarize a summary unless you copied it off someone? You're only writing the basics of the story in a brief form, you're not presenting any opinion of the book. What I find interesting is you never said you didn't plagiarize it, you just want to know if it "sounds plagiarized". You know if you plagiarized, I'm not sure why you're asking unless it's to see if teachers have access to information which might uncover your fraud.I will say this, it's hard to disprove plagiarism in a summary of a book that has been summarized so often. Plagiarism is taking another's ideas and presenting them as your own. So many people have reviewed and written about Great Expectations that I doubt there's an original viewpoint left to have about it. If you really didn't plagiarize, challenge your teacher to substantiate the allegation. If they threaten to flunk you and it's your own work, you should go to the principal and state your case. Unless the teacher can provide proof of plagiarism, they have to grade your work on its own merit. If you did plagiarize, don't challenge them, because it's likely they do have a source and you will get a zero. You can get thrown out of college for plagiarism, it's a terrible habit to get into.
