Im a beginner in Photography, and its my passion to be a photographer but i am slowly getting the hang of it. But i don't have to be a pro photographer and get all these lenses and whatsoever first. Im in high school 3rd year. I wanna pursue Photography in College. Its my first time getting a DSLR and my dad's getting for me. But i don't know which one to choose. I just want a camera to take photography. The rules doesn't matter to me yet. But i wanna know which ones are better. And the MP, do they matter? I want that it can take very clear photos both day and night. I want a clear one like photos in Deviantart(photography). I may be also confused with the settings. Do i need to do the settings on my own? Or is it auto set?Im just a beginner and im confused which to choose, please help.PS. The cameras that are promoting here in singapore, are really cheap including the lenses already. Thats why im getting it like next week or earlier. The lenses are already included.

1. Get the D80 -- it autofocuses with way more lenses than the other two.2. Buy a basic book on photography, such as Digital Photography For Dummies. It'll answer all your questions.3. READ THE CAMERA'S USER MANUAL -- sorry to shout but this will save you thousands of hours and many headaches.HTH.

The D80 has the most features and options when it comes to entry level DSLR's.All three cameras have four options for making your settings. Manual, Program, Aperture and Shutter Speed modes. I am a little confused in your statement. You say you don't have to be a pro photographer and then you say you are going to pursue photography in college. How is that possible?Once in college, they will start you out shooting with a 35mm SLR ... if you can find a good used Nikon F4 or F5 it will use most of the lenses you will have purchased for your DSLR except for any DX format lenses like the 12-24mm wide angle zoom.

Have you looked into the Canon Rebel XTI? This is the camera we are using at the Art Institute. It is a pretty nice camera and is reasonably priced. There is an auto feature as well as manual. Higher MP's create clearer enlargements.

Out of the three choices, I would suggest the Nikon D80. The D40 is the best entry level DSLR on the market today, while the D40x is being phased out as we speak. The D80 has more features, is a bit bigger, and will auto focus with all AF Nikkors. This is a big plus if you have older AF lenses. With the D80, you'll also have a lot more room to grow. As for Auto modes, yes, the D80 has them, however, photographers do not get a DSLR to shoot in full auto. The mega pixels do not mean that much. For a DSLR, 10 is a good start, while six might be a bit limiting. You should also consider the lenses. The D80 can be picked up body only, with an 18-55mm kit, a 18-135mm, 18-70mm, or the 18-200mm VR. It would be a good idea to consider your needs when you make your purchase.

Nikon will be announcing new equipment this week. One of the very strong rumors at this point is that one announcement will be a replacement for the D40 and D40x, and it seems to suggest that this new model will share much of the electronics of the D3/D300.If this rumor is true it would be worthwhile waiting until the end of the week before making a decision, because the EXPEED electronics make a real difference.
