OK, so my mother is skinny, young looking, fun, and outgoing. She picked out a dress for my wedding, which she loves and I love and my grandparents love. She looks stunning in the dress. I don't know many people who can pull this color off. My sister thinks it is not appropriate. What do you think?http://www.flickr.com/photos/23498164@N02/2261880136/More background. My colors are teal, silver, and yellow and it is a black tie optional affair. My parents are hosting it (as in paying for the whole thing) and she wants to have fun and party. I am not a fan of the typical MOB dresses. My dress it elaborate as well.http://www.marysbridal.com/bridal/9601.htm(without the pink sash)

If you are OK with it that is all that matters.however, I think it looks like a HS prom dress.I think a cocktail dress is more appropriate. This one it too long and may compete with your gown.

Will her husband be wearing a full tux? If so, a ball gown is entirely appropriate. Don't let your sister ruin the fun of a formal affair.

I dont think it matters that she LOOKS young, it's more the fact that she is NOT YOUNG! The dress is okay, I would perhaps have her wear a darking corrisponding color with a shall or Bolero Jacket over. SHE NEEDS TO DRESS HER AGE!...If she doesnt then what do you care you got a free wedding and thats really nice. Everyone knows mom's can be a bit odd anyway.Have fun.

your moms dress does look a little bride-ish, but if you like it and your mom likes it that's all that really matters.
