| I think it has to do with the fact that people take weddings too seriously and the couple is trying to interject a little fun into the situation and make it light hearted.I know some people deem it "tacky", but in most situation I see no harm in it. A little cake on the nose or smudged on the cheek is really no biggy. Now, it was in their hair, ended up their nose or all other their clothes; that's different.But, most brides and grooms keep it cute and in good taste and fun. Personally, I would not be upset if my new hubby smeared a little cake on my nose. I'd turn around put a little on his cheek.We sure are NOT a trashy couple, as some called the tradition "trailor trash"IMO, it depends on the couple. My boyfriend is very joking (but in a loving way), I think people would find it odd if he didn't interject his joking/humor side into the tradition. As long as it doesn't ruin the dress, get in my hair or mess up my makeup (wiping a small smear of cake off your nose/cheeck isn't going to mess up a good makeup job); then I don't mind keeping the tradition. |

| Personally I think it's stupid. Why mess up makeup/clothes/floor etc. It's such a special day, why ruin it, I think. |
