My mother and I were discussing the possibility of using silk flowers for the bouquets and decorations versus buying costly flowers that are just going to die anyway. We think it's more cost effective and I don't mind working on bouquets, as long as I have some ideas and tips on how to go about it.What would be good to use as far as silk flowers and supplies? I am pretty crafty but I haven't ever worked with silk flowers. If you can offer flower suggestions and ideas, let me know!We are planning on making a trip to Michael's craft store tomorrow to pick out the cake topper and would like to try and get the flowers picked out in the same trip.I might plan on using cala lillies and stephanotis for the flowers. It may be decided that we order them, however I am pretty crafty enough to do it on my own. If there is something too hard to tackle on our own, we may just order a few things like table decorations.

I used silk for my wedding it is really easy to do .. you will need to figure out how big you want your flower arrangements to be and colors and then pick your flowers based on that.. most places that sell the silks will help you too.. You will also need floral tape

I would look for the design schools. They have students on hand to make the arrangements at a discounted price because its a school. See if there is something in your area. That could give you lot's of options. Good luck.

Micheal's is a great place to find what you are looking for. I am confident you will answer your own questions once you get there. Maybe take their silk flower course. Good luck & congratulations

I made all the flower arrangements for my wedding last April including the bouquets. I used artificial rose blooms and buds in yellow and pink. I also used tiny clear bead sprays for accents and white ostrich plumes. I purchased all of my supplies from Hobby Lobby, but you should be able to find the same thing in Michaels. Just pick up different types of flowers that you like and see if they look pretty together. Choose enough so that you have full bouquet in your hands. You will need wire cutters, floral wire, floral tape, and ribbon so purchase these as well. The best ribbon to use is the kind with a little texture on at least one side. The very silky kind is hard to work with. If you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me.
