I'm going right after school gets out (I think June 18th) this year for my cousin's wedding, and because me and my family already know that we're going regardless of any situation, we decided to take our annual vacation there instead of paying for more plane tickets (we're cheap like that). Anyway, I'm into photography, and I've only been at it for around late summer of 07, so I don't have much experience. I haven't been able to get out of the house much, so I've mostly just been reading up. I think i'm OK for gear-I've got a digital rebel XTi (No Mark III, but it's the best I can afford and I know how to use it) a 70-300mm IS USM lens (not ring type, but micro usm, and I figure that if I'm doing landscapes then I won't mind rotating a polarizer when I focus), a battery grip BG-E3, 430 EX (just in case) two CF cards, a polarizer and a tripod (it's heavy, but I think my family will make me stick to the trails for this one, anyway). I'll be in Whistler Mtn./B.C. for a week, and I need(sorry, ran out of room) I need to know how to be prepared for something like this. It's mostly going to be landscapes, but Vancouver has a nice aquarium and some museums, so I could mix it up a bit. If you want, you can check vancouver's and whistler's website, but be careful-whistler is a ski resort during the winter, but it's still amazing during the summer, too, so make sure it's for the summer). I've used most of my money from the holidays already, but a still have about $250, so I'm good for filters 'n stuff. I'll also be shooting some wildlife-at least, hopefully. My cousin says they have tons of bears up there, so if i'm lucky... Anyway-just give me any tips you have based on the information. Tell me what to read, pack, new ideas and techniques, special hotspots, etc. etc.Keep in mind that I don't have a laptop or notebook right now, I'm pretty broke. And I forgot to mention that i also have a standard 28-90mm silver ring kit lens that came with a K2 I had a while back (that's how I saved a bunch of money on the XTi, I just got the body) so I'm pretty much set for wide angle (I think). And when I say I have 250, I meant 500 (oops, counted last night to check) but that's all I have for private money at the moment(I'm kind of broke) so I want to keep SOME money in case of an emergency...Also, I never said I had two camera bodies. Just one XTi. Again, basically poor

For landscapes take along the 10-20mm lens, they will be amazing.Since you are going to be shooting like a wild-man, be sure to take at least enough cards to total 8GB or 10GB of memory. Also transfer all your images to your note book at the end of each day and delete the bad images on the computer .. don't be tempted to deleted them on the card, you could end up with a whole card of corrupted images. The format the card(s) before using them again.

In addition to the two bodies you mention (one spare) heavy tripod and the long lens, batteries and chargers, try to have a shorter, even wide angle lens. Polarizer is OK for deep skies and transparent waters but some cameras can only measure correctly through a circular polarizer however you'll see the results on the LCD immediately. If the Polaroid is for the 70-300 it is big enough for a wide angle lens and you can even handhold it in front of that lens to save on adapter rings. Do you have a laptop that you can unload those cards to? Or even a portable drive and card reader if you can use cousins computer. Since you have two bodies, if weight is not bothersome, you can have a wide lens on one and the tele-zoom on the other and avoid changing lenses, losing time and the chance of getting that dust particle or dead insect on the sensor which will shop up only when you are back home. Grrrrr... I would carry air and cleaning brushes but being very careful with air pressure to clean a sensor. You can control pressure with the trigger.Oh, don't get too close to those bears, get a 2x or 3x converter, even if not AF but only MF and stay safe. Bears run faster than you can.

Nothing wrong with your camera! I'm probably old enough to be your grandma and that is the one I have, too. Maybe you are not too concerned about carrying a heavy tripod, but it would sure slow me down! Why not get a lighter weight tripod, or even a monopod? Have a good time!
