My wedding is in August and we're on a very tight budget -- Not only that, I'm a do it myself kind of person and I like to be creative -- I'm hand making all my decorations and bridesmaid bouquets -- but this one has me stumped!! I don't know what to serve during my reception -- I want kind of a garden/picnic theme -- i want to keep it simple but yet with a touch of something fancy -- I'm making sure that the reception is held in between meals like at 2 or 3 -- but i don't know what kinds of food would work or what would be appropriate.Any recipe ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much for your help!!

my mom made the food for my wedding....we had...toss salad, pasta salad, cold cut tray, cheese tray, pickle and olive tray, cracker tray, buns, mustard, devilled eggs, shrimp and cocktail sauce, veggie tray, dips, chicken, lasagna, cake and little dessert squares. it was great, there was something for everyone and it was filling and not too expensive to make.

Think "garden tea"... I would think some sandwiches on croissants would be nice, some veggies, maybe even little quiches. I would definitely go the appetizer route. Trywww.foodnetwork.comwww.allrecipes.com www.pillsbury.comthey all have great appetizer recipes and other ideas too. Good luck and happy planning!

you could do fried chicken but i think that would be messy so i think you could do like heavy appitizers. mini sandwhichesmini quichechoclate covered strawberriessugar cookiesfruit bowlvegtable plattercheese and cracker platterroasted red peppers with mozerella over mini toastchicken satay on skewersor steak kabobscorn fritterscorn and avacado brushettapigs in a blanket(although i hate that idea, but whatever you love)mini taquitos or flautasfried mac and cheese in martini glassesif you are on a tight budget maybe serve mimosas(champange and orange juice), beer, iced tea, and punch insted of a full bar. I hope this helps. please feel free to email me with any questionsif you are getting married in August i would avoid any foodstuffs with mayo if you are having an outdoor reception, if it is going to be hot.
