My fiance and I are getting married in June. We have 3 children from previous partners. I want some type of ceremony that the children can be involved in with us. Something signifying the coming together of our separate families into one. We are very involved in each other's children's lives an want our wedding to have something special for each of them to be involved in also. I've heard of the sand ceremonies, and our children are too young for a candle ceremony.Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking a family tree...but wanted to ask for more input. Thanks! Our children are 6, 5, and 2. Shawnee--my son would probably rather a Spiderman too! haha

the sand idea is good. you have your color, groom has his color and let the children pick their own colors. (they get to choose so that they will feel included)or after you and your fiance exchange rings you could give the children something too like a necklace or something.you could also include them in the wedding party; flower girl, ring bearer etc..you could also have special vows that you say to your children.make sure you have plenty of kleenex on hand for everyone. just in case

Well, you could do vows with them. You and your fiance could write vows to the children and have the children write vows to you and him (he could help his children and you help yours). it is a very special thing that people do at weddings. Usually you buy them something special like a necklace or something to signify the day.

I'm doing the sand ceremony & I think the kids would really like that too. The sand can be colorful & it would be fun for them. I ordered my vases personalized from this place on ebay & they came out great:http://cgi.ebay.com/Personalized-Wedding...And I got the sand on ebay also here:http://cgi.ebay.com/Colored-Sand-Wedding...This site has a lot of information on the blending of the families, with examples of how the ceremony would be preformed.http://www.celebrateintimateweddings.com/ceremonysand.html

Take your family tree idea and make a tree with all the family members on it (small pictures of family members in frames with ribbon attached). Ask each child to bring up a picture of themselves(made by you to match others)and hang it on the tree. This will symbolize the families coming together but won't involve sand or flames.
