i honestly think its a little too fancy for the wedding/reception. that looks more like a brides maid dress to me. most people i know (girls) wear dress pants and a cute top.

You might be overdressed, I doubt you will be underdressed. I wouldn't wear black to a wedding unless you know that it is acceptable. You boyfriend's mom says it's okay, so I think you're good to go. It's a good idea to check, but i wouldn't call the bride so close to her wedding...she's probably swamped with phone calls and worries right now. You've already checked with your boyfriend's mother...don't call the bride because it will only stress her out.

it's pretty formal but if it a dressy wedding then you will be fine. I would say if you could find a shorter version it would be perfect. The long one is just a little too dressy if you ask me.

it's very pretty, but i don't know if the low-cut back is really appropriate. i guess since it's not in a church, it's fine. i'd try to get a shawl or something just to cover up a little until the reception gets underway. it's great that you care so much about how you're dressed and that you understand what you wear does matter at an event like this. you're very thoughtful and considerate and i'm sure your b/f's family appreciates it.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
