I'm attending a friends wedding shower this weekend and I'm not quite sure if what I have planned to wear is appropriate. The invitation doesn't say it's formal or anything, and the shower is being held at the brides mothers' house. I was planning on wearing dark brown trousers with a pink belt with tiny white polka dots and a white polo with brown heels. I know you're not suppose to wear white to a wedding, but this is just the shower and from what I've gathered from her family it's kinda casual. Do you think it would be completely inappropriate to wear the white polo? I was thinking I may substitute it for a light pink shirt, but I would like to avoid that since I'd have to go shopping for one and I'm already driving 300 miles for this thing (gas prices suck!) !! Let me know what you guys think...

That sounds appropriate to me. Wearing white shouldn't matter at the shower.

Bridal showers are usually pretty casual, at least all the ones I've heard of! I mean, what you have planned sounds nice. You should dress nice for the shower but not all out, you know what I mean?

Don't be silly. Wear the white polo. The white thing doesn't even apply to weddings anymore. People wear black, or whatever color they desire. It is no big thing anymore. Emily Post is dead and just about anything this side of grunge works these days.

your outfit sounds cute - wearing a white top is not violating any etiquette rules for the shower.

What you are wearing sounds perfect. Usually if the shower is at someone's house it is casual. So brown trousers and a polo sound great

Sounds perfect. Enjoy! Wow, you're a good friend to drive 300 miles for a shower. I'm not sure I'd do that for anyone except one of my children. I'd stick a gift in the mail. Wedding showers aren't that much fun. |
