Like the question states- to add to that...I am very creative and very good at these 3 things. Makeup is the only one I have experience in profesionally as I am a liscenced esthetician and have done many bride, photo shoots etc. I used to work at a spa and did brides makeup there. Since I have been on my own I have done some shoots without pay (no portfolio). I would have to take time to develop a portfolio in all three of these areas. I have the time to focus on this..and perfect my skills. In two years I would hope to have a portfolio for all different avenues and start my business. There are pros and cons to this. I could see how great tying all these things together would be, but I also see how too many things could detract. I need your opinions. Would it turn you off to see someone who does all three things if you were a bride/groom. Even if they were great at all three?

I would say pick the one you think you could have the most success with and start with that. If you find that you could handle more maybe add another service to your business. It seems to me that 3 services would be too much for 1 person to handle. especially doing cakes, that is very time consuming. maybe if you hooked up w/ someone w/ a baking business you could make extra money charging finders fees. good luck w/ your new venture!

It sounds like you have a step up with being a licensed esthetician and having done photo shoots. It sounds like you have the experience. It sounds like you already have a good start on making a good business plan. I think I would like to see where I could make it easier on me as a bride (I'm not getting married at all but if I were). I think and this is my opinion I would be a little worried it does sound like a lot of work for person to take pics, makeup and make sure the cake is set up. I can see where the make up and pictures could be done easily. I think it could be done with help of an assistant especially where weddings and reciptions can be held in two different places. I think if you know a few people getting married soon see if you can help them out doing all three. Because I think it sounds like you already have a great start of doing a business.

Focus on the makeup business, and use photography to showcase it. I knew someone in the cake decorating business who did something similar, and that worked out great for her.

All three talents that you mention are good in their own right, but together you are right, you may be going in too many directions at once in a way making yourself a jack of all trades but a master of none. These three skills could be honed into one very important niche career called a "food stylist" A food stylist is more or less the backbone of the food advertising industry and food photography. Now if you can learn to be both of food stylist and a food photographer then you would be set as food stylist are expensive to work with, in demand, and sometimes arent able to understand the limits of photography. Overall though if you decide to take the three prong approach perhaps create separate business cards for each endeavor so as to elude the stereotype of being a jack of all trades.

Pick the one with the greatest return on investment. Sub out the others for a referral fee. Most consumers will see you as a master of none if you stretch your talents too thin..

---- look in your local Yellow Pages to see if anyone else is offering this kind of integrated service---- if nobody is offering it, either customers don't want it, or nobody's thought of it---- the only way you'll find out is by spending a few bucks on market research. Yeah it costs, but bankruptcy costs a lot moreHTH.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
