I am planning my moms wedding for April 19th. I am doing almost everything, including flowers, centerpeices, arch, and all the food.I am ok with everything but the food. She is having a "picnic" buffet. I am so afraid that I will not have enough food to feed everyone. Is this normal? It is not a potluck, I would Never ask a quest to bring food.

It's normal. We are doing our own catering as well and I'm cooking food for about 15 or so more people than I actually think will come that way if we get some big eaters it's still covered.Lol if worse comes to worse you can always call up Pizza Hut

People often have concerns about running out of food. Most of us are not used to planning for larger groups and don't really know how much food is appropriate. Here's a couple sites that might help. Check for others that will give you a sense of how much food you need to have.http://en.allexperts.com/q/Mass-Production-Cooking-765/Estimating-Food-Quantity-Large.htmhttp://www.razzledazzlerecipes.com/quantity/cold-buffet.htm

You are a girl after my own heart. I too never expect my guests to furnish their own food. Yes, it is normal to worry about the food. I have noticed that as long as there is plenty to eat and a kind hostess that people will enjoy themselves. My daughter's second marriage was something like you are doing and the week prior some extra people were inadvertently invited and by some I mean about 30. I just added a couple of extra entrees that could be frozen if not used. Ham would be nice and is particularly economical this time of year. Not having enough reminds me of a birthday party we had for our handicapped brother at the convalescence home he lives in last year. We were certain that only a few residents would come and celebrate with us. We were wrong. I went to my sister and whispered "don't eat anything." I did the same with my daughter and nieces. We all simultaneously went on a diet. So if you run short just put the people you know best "on a diet". Stop worrying, you are a good daughter.

relax, everything will go great! Running out of food is a very common fear. If you're worried about the food, just make LOTS of extras. Any leftovers you can freeze and enjoy for weeks to come. Good luck!
