How about this: get a medium sized silver colored tray like this -http://www.delightfullywed.com/silversquaretray.jpg (can be metal or plastic; Walmart has plastic ones, or go to goodwill and find metal ones), a glass cylindrical candle holder like this- http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.100candles.com/Images/Items/9inch_highx3inch_diameter_glass_vase.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.100candles.com/Items/Item_5073.htm&h=300&w=300&sz=28&hl=en&start=5&tbnid=HqUqDYygPcyExM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcylinder%2Bcandle%2Bholder%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den, with a blue unscented pillar candle in it (scented candles draw bugs and interfere with the taste of food), put the candle holder in the center of the tray and surround it with purple plastic grapes and plums, and ivory silk mini roses on a bed of brown moss. I'm planning to do the same thing except with shades of green (limes, grapes, pears, etc.) and it looks so beautiful and organic. Not fussy at all- perfect for an outdoor venue.

Risky! September is a perfect time for storms. be prepared. But for decor, stick to natural wood type items. Candles in rod iron, perhaps greenery on the tables.
