Not that I plan on getting engaged/married anytime relatively soon I do however think it will be within the next couple years. I was wondering if it is appropriate to have the brides good male friends and groomsmen and vise versa. Has anyone else done this?

I just attended a wedding where one of the "groomsmen" was a woman. She wore a floor length black dress and carried a bouquet (different from the bridesmaids) that matched the boutonniere flowers for the men.She looked lovely - in fact I thought she looked better and more elegant than the bridesmaids!I'm sorry I haven't seen a gentleman on the female attendant side before....

This is becoming a more common practice. The brides "attendants" stay on her side and the groom's stay on his. Or, stay traditional and have girls on one and guys on the other. My husband wanted his sister, as she and he are close, and I wanted my brother, for the same reason in the bridal party. I also included a good friend of mine as a groomsman and he stood on my husband's side. It's really all about who supports the couple and that's who should be in the party, it doesn't matter who (the bride or the groom) wants them there.

Not exactly sure what you mean...check your wording. Do you mean, you're wondering if you can have a male attendant/can your fiance have female attendants? That is perfectly reasonable and actually quite popular. Or, did you mean, is it okay if your male friends were groomsmen and your fiance's female friends were bridesmaids? That too is perfectly acceptable and some couples do it, I've seen it at a number of weddings. Good luck!

Yes, you can have male attendants on the brides side. I, actually am doing just that. My best friend is a guy and I also am having my brother on my side. My closest girlfriend will be my maid of honor, so it will be her first, then my bro, then my good friend caleb. My fiance has all guys on his side - so we're having all the men wear matching tuxes, and my moh gets to pick what kind of dress she wants, as long as it's rose red. Anyway - do what you want, if you are closer to your male fam. members or friends, put them in your wedding. You really want people you care about to be with you on your special day, no matter if they're guys or gals. Your wedding will be lovely....congrats!
