| im currently feeding my dog iams shes a Female GSD shes 7 and half weeks old, the breeder reccomended i wet the iams before i gave it to her so i did that then up untill about weds she wouldnt eat the food wet unless i mixed somthing in it such as egg or dry food that hasn't been wet, is it ok for me to feed my dog dry food without wetting it? and im currently trying to get her to eat nutro instead so im slowly mixing the iams and nutro together, but i basicaly want to know if you can give dry food straight to them without wetting it? |

| In a nutshell, yes.Remember this: Dogs will not starve themselves. The breeder probably wanted the puppies to have an easier transition, but dry food is meant to be just that- dry food. If your puppy seems fine with eating dry food, then go for it. |

| It's not necessary to wet it. I only recommend wetting food if the puppy is having a hard time eating the dry food, or isn't eating much of it. Wetting it makes it softer, and can sometimes make it more appetizing to young puppies. If your puppy prefers dry food, leave it dry. |

| well idk but my dog dont eat any kind of dog food.she only eats apples tomatoes grapes dried appricots soup and things that us people eat.. |

| Dry food is just fine as long as you supply ample clean cold water. |

| My cocker spaniel had dry food from when he was a puppy but then decided he preferred it wet and then decided he wanted it with tinned food.It's just their tastes changing, after all you'd get bored with the same meal everyday after a while! |

| Its her preference.With our puppy,we gave a mixture of dry and canned wet dog food.The canned is good for the coat and growth of a puppy.Just dry is alright ,but you run a risk of her choking.Get some wet food,and mix it with your Iams,Nutro,then see if she eats it.She probably will,seeing as the wet stuff is always a dogs favourite food.Lost fo love for you and your pup,xoxo kaity <3 |

| Dry feeding is fine if pup is happy, just make sure there is a bowl of water alongside her food. |

| yeah you can give dogs dry dog food without wetting it my dog used to eat it that way but now she likes her dry dog food wet |

| YES..thats perfectly fine...we have been feeding my dog dry dog food since the first day we got her and she was only 1 month old...she will be fine! |

I remember reading an article on a dog magazine saying that it's better for the dog in the long run to feed it wet food.My dog is on at the moment eukanuba, but she's been on Bakers & Pedigree also. I also sometimes gives her rice and pasta depending on what she is having extra with it. What we do is basically, wet it either with water or if we give her tuna, wet it with the tuna juices and add some extra water. I give her ham bones, chicken liver, and raw meat sometimes(although i dont like to feed her raw things) as this is the most efficient way of giving the dog the essential viatmins it needs.I think they are just like us, if you eat the same food all the time you get bored. Try to rotate it about and you should find the right balance between what she prefers and what she needs.Good Luck  |

| You shouldn't-especially for puppies.Its often hard to digest and sometimes the dog can get bloated which can be lethal.As dry is a complete food - you have to add something that wont upset the balance.These things are tuna-its a different protein,and natural yoghurt.Wet food (not just dry with water) is too much protein-causing your dog to get to much of it and become overweight and hyperactive. |

| she is fine eating it dry but do make sure that she always has fresh water down and that she is drinking.with nutro you can place it in the microwave for a few seconds (dont use a stainless steel bowl though) it breaks out the natural oils and makes it smell more attractive but if she is eating it dry you dont need to do that.dont mix either with anything as it could make her fussy as to what she wants to eat |
