It sounds like a nice idea, but realistically it could cost the guests a lot of money if they have to buy new outfits.Maybe you could put 'if you wish, black and white attire' or something like that.

I know you have made up your mind but I was reading all the responses and I wanted to tell you:#1 Is your wedding and you do what ever the HELL you want and how you want it, you are not doing an affair to please your guest, they should consider themselves honored that you are including them in your celebration.#2 I have been to plenty of "Society"(most people call them that)Beverly Hills, Palm Beach and have attended numerous ones where you where required to wear a specific color and some times a specific designer, etc, etc, etc. #3 Always be polite and appropriate, remember; "is not what you say is how you say it"#4 Enjoy your wedding and many blessings to you!

No, I think that's cool. My aunt had a formal wedding and everyone had to wear a sort of dresser dress to hers.

I've always wanted to go to a black and white party so I would be all for it. No matter what you do there will be some who don't conform but you could at least suggest it. On the invitation write something like "Black and White Formal Attire Preferred".

Hey its your day, i feel how having everything the way you want it can be desireable, and become a little unrealistic. I would let them wear what they want in terms of color. I would write Black Tie Affair so your guest dont show up in a Cotton dress from the dollar store. Let your wedding party look like the wedding party and dont let them blend in with the guests. If everyones in black and white it hides them and YOU!

id say include on the invite somwhere that you are having "a black and white affair" that way you said it eloquently and if they choose not to its nothing to get worked up over.
