I will be settling in Canada in couple of weeks. I currently live in the US. I am planning to cross the border with a truck full of personal stuff. I read that I should provide a detailed inventory of what I am bringing in with me to the immigration officers. I have like 10 erotica movies, also known as classic porn movies. Very good movies with plot, excellent photography and good performances. It is very difficult to get these movies and I am having a very hard time thinking that I may be forced to get rid of these titles if I want to pass the border. This material is legal, NO child pornography, bestiality or anything like that. My collection includes titles such as Emmanuelle, Alejandra, Naked came the stranger, the opening of misty bethoven, a 1000 and one erotic nights, sensations, everywomen has a fantasy. Can I still bring these titles with me?Thanks,DJWell, my personal collection is used. I don't even have the cases for the movies, and I am not intending to sell them. So in the detailed description, I don't have to be so explicit?DJ

How about having them shipped to your new address.

They do say to declare in detail but unless you have a huge collection that is packed into a huge crate, you really would not have to declare your collection. But if you are taking them with you for monetarily gain such as selling them, that is a different story.

Well, here's the things they usually censor for:1. Sex with violence. ZERO tolerance for any kind of violence whatsoever.2. Movies containing degrading images, or places either person in a position of subordination3. Movies that contain neither violence nor degrading treatment, yet can still be proven to be "obscene" (the burden of proof being on Canada Customs)

They probably aren't looking for that kind of detail. Just call the collection "box of 10 videocassettes" with no mention of what's on them and it should be fine.

The law says that you need to show a detailed list of your belongings and an approx of their value. You don't have to show the titles of your movies, and if they are personal belongings and no for sale here, they won't say anything. You may pack them in a box, it is unlikely that you have to show them. What I did is that I got rid of the boxes and only brought the DVDs in envelopes. I did that because my belongings came in my luggage, and I didn't want too much weight. Nobody looked at the specific movies or books. (Mine were no porn either).
