I'm starting an event/wedding planning business right now out of my home. My question is how do i determine how much to charge the client? I'll be making money by purchasing items(favors, invitations and all other wedding supplies), at whole sale and then charging the client for retail price so i'll have that income. Now I just need to determine how to charge for my time i put into it and charge for what the bride expects of me. I know it'll be different charges according to if the clients only need me for the day, or if they expect planning start to finish. I just need a general amount or percentage.Someone did suggest to me that I should charge 10-15 % of the final event costs but idk about that...

A set price is hard for a customer to except. They always want to pay as little as possible. Figure out how much you would like to make an hour. How much time will be put into each event? It could vary for every event. Find out what your competition is charging. You need to research. You could ask the client how much they were thinking of paying you. See if it is worth what you put in. If not, explain to them what they can get with that cost.Edit: You can also contact various places and attractions like DJs and bands. See if they will give you a referral fee. If you get enough referral income, the clients you work with don't necessarily need to pay you any extra.Plus make sure you get at least half the money up front.

I'd say 25% profit at the minimum is what you should make because even though you would make money on the "cost" you still would want to pay yourself for your "time". Time is money. Here is a website called www.MyPartyPlanner.com that you might be interested in checking out. I get a lot of referrals for my web designs from there just for being a member. Much luck to you!Aymeewww.Crisbella.com
