| How is it that you preserve a part of the wedding cake for either your 1 month or 1 year anniversary? I've heard of some people preserve it for a year to eat on their 1 year anniversary? How do they preserve it?Man the thing is i live in TX the smallest town two, we have 3 small bakeries, and they make nasty cakes! Well not professional like i would like them to be... |

| In an air tight container in the freezer. Everyone I know said it was nasty after it had been frozen so they only took one bite and threw it away. |

| You freeze it! Make sure you wrap it with saran wrap really well so it doesn't get freezer burnt. It still doesn't taste very good though.....so don't get your hopes up! |

| put it in the freezer. you save it for your one year anniversary. we did it, but i didn't eat it. my husband did, but i didn't like it the first time around, so it wasn't any better the second go around. |

| You would freeze it in a freezer safe container. Around here (Chicago), most bakeries will make you a new top for your one year anniversary, so that you have a fresh cake. It's actually part of the cake price. You might want to ask if they do that. |

You freeze it in an air tight container for a year, but honestly, I wish we'd just eaten ours because it was really gross after being frozen for a year  |

| Wrap some of the cake (usually the top tier) in saran wrap. Then place it in a freezer safe container and freeze it for a year. The better you seal it up the better it will taste, though you shouldn't expect it to taste half as good as it did fresh.Personally I'm not going to bother saving any of the cake. My fiancé and I plan to order a small cake through the same bakery for our 1 year anniversary. |

| When I got married, I froze my wedding cake until our year anniversary. It was supprisly very good. You may want to try that. You may also want to take a picture of your cake and have it remade on your year anniversary. |

| The biggest problem is trying to keep it from getting freezer burned while it's in the freezer for a year. Some friends of mine wrapped it in so much plastic wrap that you couldn't even see the box anymore, and they said it tasted great after a year. |

| They truly dont save for a year. Maybe a month in the freezer. Many bakeries that do the wedding cake will give you a tiny cake for the one year anniversary free. There are many mail order cake places if you look online. Check out www.perfectendings.com and others |

| you just freeze it and thaw it out after a year. sounds gross to me but that's what people do. I say donate the leftover cake to the mission or homeless shelter where you're having the wedding instead. |

| Today people freeze the cake, and it doesnt taste good, this tradition comes from the fact that wedding cakes used to be fruit cakes which could be stored for a year without freezing, and some believe fruit cakes taste better as they age. My inlaws married 30 years ago the top layer was a fruit cake. Ive recently thought about looking into whiskey cake for the top layer, which also ages well, still researching it. |
