Talking about actual cheese. Did everyone just get a slice of cheese of their plates or was it cut up for people to serve themselves with biscuits, chutneys etc. Was this instead of a traditional wedding cake.?www. houseofcheese.co.uk is what the sort of thing I mean.

Are you taking about a round of cheese? Like Gouda or Edam cheese? I've never seen that in place of a cake. But it sounds like a unique idea. I love cheese. I'd put out all sorts of stuff with it - biscuits and chutneys, fruits and olives. Mmm, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

We are having a cheese course before dessert but not as a substitute, on the plate will be:5 kinds of cheesegrapesnutsdipping (honey, balsimic vinegar) crusty bread dried figsmelon slicecarrot If you choose to do this i would instead have many different kinds of cheese on the plate.

I would have them be served the cake on plates but maybe have options of toppings at the table for them to put on. They could put on fresh fruits. I think that cheesecake is a great idea!

a friend of mine had a friend who was a baker and made a tiered cheesecake for her wedding. it was delicious and fun. the tiers didn't actually sit on top of each other, they were just displayed together. she had the baker there to slice and serve it, it was pretty informal.

Yes, I have seen this done before at a wedding and it's really effective and a real talking point once it's brought out.In this case it was an 'instead of' rather than an 'as well as' and the Bride & Groom cut into it with a large knife for the cutting of the cake pictures, before the company that supplied the 'cake of cheese' started on slicing. Guests were then able to pick up a cheeseplate and pile it high (crackers, dried fruits etc also available). It's a great solution for those who find wedding cake a little too rich although its customary for a bride to keep a slice of wedding cake as a keepsake - perhaps you'll not be able to do that with this type of cake Smile
