Congratulations on your wedding. Don't stress your self out over this issue. I myself am type 1. What I did for the wedding cake, was had the nice "traditional" cake. Then I had the baker make the top layer sugar-free..(which my husband has since grown to enjoy). Or if you have other diabetics in your family or your friends make the entire cake sugar free. And in all honesty I was so excited during my reception and so busy walking around and taken pictures with everyone and talking to people I barley ate anything, and we served dinner. They only cake I had, was the cake my husband shoved in my face. I piece i took to eat, just sat there, and the best man eat it. You get so wrapped up in what to plan and what to serve. Don't stress about the cake, planning a weeding is stressful enough. As you know stress itself is bad for your blood sugar. Just relax, your wedding will be perfect.

One idea is to have a very small "topper-size" cake made just for you and your husband (if he is wanted to share the cake with you). It wouldn't be that much more $ for the bakery to include one that is sugar free or swetened with something you can eat. ($15- $25 I'm thinking!Have the "real" cake prepared normally - cut it as part of the festivities, etc... have your special little cake off to the side.

Discuss this with local bakers and see what they are willing and able to do.

do a small tier sugar free cake for you and your goom and for pics. maybe a two tier and put it on a pedastal to add height. then get a sheet cake to cut for the guest. this saves lots of $$ and it's easier to serve. a filling may even be in the budget this way. relax and take a deep breath don't worry about the cake that much, i seriously had one bite of mine and have no idea what it tasted like but our guest told us it was delicious.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
