| I was asked to shoot a simple justice of the peace wedding, i just dont know what to charge for something like that. I have only done one wedding in the past it and i did it super cheap since it was a good friend of mine. I usually charge 35/hr for the session and proofs of high school seniors but Im worried that might be to much for the simple JP wedding........can you guys give me suggestions? clearly she liked my work because she called me (i dont advertise, seeing as its just a side job for me, so she got my number from her cousin who i did a senior shoot for)Also i wondered if 35/hr is a good price for the senior shoots I have been getting alot of calls about doing all sorts of photography so i think its probably time to get a price list started, Im confident in my photography skills but Im clueless as to the business side of it I REALLY NEED HELP |

I really can't guess for you as this is market and quality dependent so here's some practical advice instead:1. Do some research - find out what others charge and decide how your work compares in terms of quality.2. Decide on what you are comfortable charging based on your homework about the local market.... you have to feel comfortable with your pricing before you go to the market is my key tip!!Time spent in reconnaissance is never wasted... |

| It doesn't matter if it's just a JP wedding. Charge the customer what YOU'RE worth! It's YOUR time. If word gets around that you do weddings for next to nothing, you are going to find everyone else demanding the same price! Also, the industry is suffering because every uncle Bob with a digital camera are now doing weddings and charging nothing. If you really want to do weddings, learn how to do them well, get yourself affiliated with one of the governing bodies, in the UK that would be the SWPP, and charge the going rate! |

| I also just started out with my own Photography buisness, and it's so hard to pick prices! I went to all the website of the other photographers in my area to find a fair market value, then I went just alittle under. $35/hr for senior pics is TOO low! Have a flat rate, for a 1 hour sitting fee. It'll be easier for you. People will and do pay megabucks for pictures, if y ou don't want to charge too much, then go right under the others. You need to get paid for your work, fair is fair. If you want more prices suggestions just contact me. |
