My grandma is really pushing for it because of "tradition" but I hate it! Does anyone else feel the same way and if so what are you planning on doing?

Hi!! I am a wedding coordinator in my area and I will tell you that there arnt alot of people using the traditional organ music anymore!! More and more people are using "current" songs. you could always try to please everyone by having the organ music played as your guests are sitting, then when your bridesmaids and yourself walk down the aisle, use the songs that YOU want. After all, It is YOUR wedding, and a day that you will remember forever!! Good Luck making your decision. Dont forget your future hubby has an opinion as well, whether he cares or not, they still LOVE to be asked!! Hope that helps!!! and congrats!

Is grandma getting married or are you? Organ music is fine if you like it but is not everyone's taste. I don't care for organ music in general and don't intend to have it at my wedding. I have never heard it at anyone else's either. In most churches, they don't use organs anymore so it shouldn't even be an issue.

I agree I don't care for organ music, maybe you could try to talk her into comprimise with a piano. There are many beautiful songs written for piano that I would play at my wedding a pianist is usually cheaper than an organ player too.

Girl - you may not want to do this but it's YOUR DAY! HELLO! Your grandmother had her day - what makes her think she can plan yours (unless she's literally paying for it! hehe)?????!!!!!I say have exactly the wedding you want and screw anyone else who says otherwise. You (hopefully) only have one wedding and it should be yours to remember.Congratulations!

Your grandmother is used to traditional church weddings. I don't care so much for it as the organist oftens gets louder and louder. I like the piano and the harp. If you feel you must accommodate grandma then speak with the organist and tell her what you don't like about it and maybe she can help come up with something that pleases you. What would I do personally? Knowing that grandmas are special and here for a limited time I would have soft organ music prior to the wedding while the guests are arriving and have a harp for the actual ceremony.

Grandma, bless her heart, has had her wedding day.Now it's your turn, YOUR wedding, and just as you stayed out of hers she needs to stay out of yours.Of course you don't say that to her- you'll figure out how to handle her when you thoroughly understand and accept that it is your responsibility, along with the groom, to make your wedding just the way you want it to be. This will be the most important day of your life. You will make a life-long commitment, take sacred vows.Do you want to concentrate on that, ordo you want to be standing there with the thought going through your mind, on and on....God, l HATE this music! Because that's what will happen. You'll concentrate on the music rather than on what you're there to do.Tell that to Grandma. It's YOUR wedding, it will be your memories- and trust me, many days will come when you will NEED those memories.to remind you of why you got into this, and how. You need these memories to be as joyful as ever you can make them. So nevermind what anybody else is doing, the only question is, what do YOU love? think on it and decide for yourself. The family will put pressure on you, that's what they're there for, just remember this opera: my-my-my-me-me-me-ME- i i i me-only me-i i i- etc. This is not selfishness, ingratitude, ego, whatever spin anyone wants to put on it, including you. This is about PROTECTING your sacred day and your priceless memories.Good luck to you both and HAVE A HAPPY WEDDING DAY.

I plan on having a string quartet, the organ is too oppressive and it makes me think funeral sometimes, weddings are supposed to be happy

I had a guitar and a keyboard. My parents wanted a string quartet. It was one of the few things that I put my foot down for... and I am so thrilled that I did. It sounded wonderful.

I wouldn't have wanted it! Piano, if anything. However, we had a traditional Ukrainian wedding, and had a bandura played (stringed Ukrainian instrument) - it was really beautiful!
