I has thinking about having them request a favorite song that they would be sure to dance too at the reciption on the back of their response card, how would i word it on the card? I'm afraid people won't dance at my wedding since we won't be serving alchol except wine with dinner and champange for the toast. Any other suggestions on how to get my guest to get up and dance?

This is why you should always have an open bar at a reception. Even if it's not free.

that's a great idea! very original and unique, I've never seen that done but I know my parents always love to dance to lady in red but who wants to go up and request it from the DJ? that can be awkward. make sureyour DJ is cool with this and make sure you can get him the list several weeks in advance so he can gather all the requested songs.

If there is a song you would like to be played at the reception, please write the name and artist on the lines provided on the back.

What a great idea! That would certainly make the reception all the more enjoyable for the guests. Perhaps you can just simply write, "Request a favorite song to be played at the reception" on the response card. You, your fiance, members of the wedding party, and some family members can initiate the group dancing. If the guests see that there are already people dancing, then they'll most likely get up and join in.

I'm sure the DJ would be more than happy to take their requests at the reception, it's their job to make them get up and dance. If you are not serving alcohol though don't expect people to be out there doing a lot of fast fun dancing. I've been to two dry weddings and a lot of people didn't stick around that long into the night.

You can certainly ask the guests to RSVP with a favorite song title, but also be prepared for a lot of your guests to not RSVP at all (unfortunately). It's a great idea in theory, but keeping track of your guests requests could be a bigger hassle than you anticipate. And think also about songs that might be requested that you absolutely can't stand. Then what? To get people dancing, consider the ages of your guests and what kind of music they'd enjoy. Your DJ would probably have a good idea, too, of what to play to get everyone dancing. (That's their job!)

thats a great idea, i think it will help ur guests to have the music they like without having to be embarassed about requestiong it to the dj in front of everyone, i would just write something like "i want our wedding to be as memorable for you as it will be for us, so please write your favorite song and the artist so that we can dance the night away." idk i would put something like that idk if u like that or not. anyways good luck and congratulations!!

Add the request to the reception card, ask for the wedding song they danced to or maybe their favorite song or something and go from there, I'm also with who ever said that it should be some kind of a open bar or something even if they had to pay for the drinks them self, it seems people just have alot more fun at those, but again I understand everyone is different and money doesn't grow on trees, good luck

We are sending out a special card to be returned with the reception attendance card asking each guest to request their favorite song or a song they'd like played at our reception. We are making these cards ourselves out of cardstock.
