Its for indoor sport photography, but I just dont have $1000+++to spend on a big lens. Its for personal pics, doesnt have to be portfolio worthy :)Thanks very much for your help!!

Yeah, the frustration of having a lower budget then others is my problem also. For that type of shoting you could get the AF NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4D IF. But... It price is a bit high but you get what you pay for. The other one though that you could get is the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D. its a lot less expensive and good for personal use.

The fastest lenses by any manufacturer are always the 50mm, they're the easiest to design, they will also probably be one of the best in their range, f1.2 are available. Any zoom will be slower.Chris

The 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 is just about a perfect on a crop DSLR for many indoor sports. The 1.8 will be under $100, the 1.4 about $300. If that's not quite long enough, try an 85mm 1.8. It should be under $500.
