I am coming out to Vegas and need to find outdoor locations within 30 minutes of the city to shoot. I am looking for unique and rough terrain (boulders, rocks, caves) that do not require extreme amounts of hiking but present wonderful backgrounds for shots with a modelI am aware of the general locations like Lake Mead, but am looking for more specific spots

Red Rock is only a 15 minute drive from the strip and has everything you asked for, except caves. There is a paved road through part of it. It is a state park, you can google it for more info.

The city is surrounded by desert. I believe any direction you go out of the city will give you great locations to shoot at. Try going north towards the Mountains. you'll love it.

If you are shooting models you do need a permit for both Red Rock and Valley of Fire State park. From experience both can be rather hard core if you do not have one.Note: Both are Great Locations
