As I turn on my camera I want to grasp every detail, as the cliché goes, Pictures can say a thousand words and my pictures are going to explain everything. Taking pictures has always been one of my hobbies from being the family photographer at birthday parties to just sitting around bored taking pictures of the sunset, moon, sky, and lots of beautiful scenery. One day I was in the car coming from Boston and the sunset looked so pretty I had to take pictures of it. From that moment on I knew I wanted to be a photographer and it felt good knowing that I have a skill and I can do something with it in the future. After I got home from the long drive I grabbed my camera and my 1 year old sister Sofia and we had a photo shoot! Sofia went through 10 different outfits. To make the photo shoot even better I put a pink blanket over the couch and had little Sofia pose for me! It was really fun, I had to hold one of her toys behind the camera so she can look straight at me. It wasn’t the easiest thing ever but I enjoyed it very much. After I was done with Sofia I knew I had potential to be a photographer. Working with different things like scenery, animal, and people didn’t bother me because I have a passion for photography and capturing every moment that makes you feel alive. Then I uploaded the pictures to the computer and I have to admit some of the lighting didn’t really look good. I wasn’t worried about it, I don’t have a photography studio so the pictures couldn’t be perfect. So I edited the pictures with this program where I can fix the contrast, flash, red eye, and all that good stuff. After all the editing the pictures looked great. I sent them to CVS and printed them out. Now that I know what I want to do for college, I’ve been looking at colleges. One college that I’m interested in is The Center for digital imaging arts at Boston University. It has a good photography studio. Students get to work with the best cameras. At CDIA students get taught by some of the best photographers and digital technicians in the field. It seems like a great school, that’s my #1 choice.Im a junior in the high school...im upset that i cant get anything else out of this.

While, I'm in an AP Lit class, and I can say your essay is not college material. Never use numbers, as it's not professional. You're missing a lot of commas, you have some informal words (sometimes I wish my lit teacher hadn't gotten to me.) Never use trite statements. Even though you mentioned it was a cliche, come up with your own something. I like the content of your essay, however. If you work really hard on this, I think ou can make something out of it. Get and AP Lit teacher's advice. They usually know what they're talking about.

The essay can be written anytime, first you need more experience as a photographer. Keep your camera with you at all times for those spontaneous shots that you see and say to yourself..." I wish I had my camera!"Practice a lot... learn the software on the computer as well... not only to correct mistakes, but to be creative and use for special effects.. Your software can save many a "plain" image into something very special.Good luck and keep shooting... remember that photography is captureing the image of light and shadow no more. People or objects are just elements to assist you in accomplishing what you desire.beauxPatrick
