| This will be my first SLR camera- though I've test drove my friend's XT. I liked it a lot, so I'm sure I'll love the XTi and XSi.I want it to last me years without getting too out-of-date, which is why I'm leaning towards the XSi. I've also heard it's a rather big improvement over the XTi (as far as replacements go) and comes with a great lens. Then again, I enjoy taking photos of everything- landscapes, people, events, pets, macro so lenses will be definitely important. I've heard good reviews (so far!) about the XSi, and I don't mind dishing an extra $300 to get a better camera body, but I don't want to regret that I hadn't spent it on lenses..P.S. Pixels don't matter to me; I won't need to print THAT big! |

| If you would rather put it to lenses, get the XTi. I own one, and I print 8 x10's just fine and I'm sure you wont need any bigger than that. It's a great camera though. |

| then you should get the xsi. i think that's the better deal. it will last longer without getting out of date. it's much better camera too. |

| Cameras are constantly getting better. Someday there will be a better camera that you want. I suggest you get the XTi instead. the xsi is obviously the upgrade verison- but i have the xti and love it. as far as lenses go- any stock lens (the regular 18-35mm) is going to be the same. they are your basic canon 18-35mm lens. the lens isn't made specific to the body. and if you are into taking pictures other than just for lesiure- you are going to want to sink any extra money into getting a lens with a greater range. try a telephoto lens- it has the greatest range for distances and portraits- if you are more into landscape pictures you might want to think about a wide angle lens. basically- if you want to take your photography anywhere, you are going to need more than the stock lens. the xti has been on top for awhile- it's a good camera and very user friendly. i would spend the extra cash on an extra lens. hope that helps  |
