I'm looking for an entry level DSLR, something not too crappy, around 1000$, possibly lessCandidates:canon 400D or 450D, pictures are sharp, but i heard the entry-level are not that good, cheap body and bad kit lensesnikon D60, especially since any nikkor lens fits on any nikon model(or so i think), and according to reviews it offers more quality/value for money but apparently the images are noisy and soft, also the lens is not IS and no AF motor in the bodyas far as the other brands are concerned, i don't really trust sony's inexperience in the market, and i'm not at all familiar with pentax and olympusthe nikon D80 is just gorgeous, but it's a bit above my budget so i'll leave it as a last resort...i know all the specs by heart, so based on your experience which would you recommend? Also, how long do you think any of these will last me? because i'm looking at a good period of time, possibly 5-6 years before thinking about upgrading (for me it's only a hobby)

Personally, I would choose the Nikon over the Canon. I love Nikon's user interface; Canon's is cluttered and clumsy. The lens on the D60 is great; and it does have the Nikon version of IS, called Vibration Reduction. As for the no AF motor in the D60, this just means that only Nikkor AF-S and AF-I lenses will autofocus. Other Nikkors will work, but will need to be manually focused (more exact info in the source). If you really want a better lens though, the Nikkor 18-200mm is supposed to be amazing.
