I applied for a postion as Event Coordinator @ a local hotel Weds. They called me on Thurs, and I was interviewing on Fri. They were out of the office for the weekend and called me @ 10am to schedule a second interview w/ the District Sales Manager on this Thursday because that is when he will be in town. Usually he is in a different state. It seems like they just found out he'd be in town so they want him to meet with me. I have had plenty of second interviews in my time, it seems this one was just on a whim and makes me wonder why they are going to have me meet with a guy I may never work with. I initially interviewed with the HR manager and the Sales Manager for the property I would work @.Why do you think they are having me meet with the other guy I may never see again?

Sometimes higher level managers are in charge of more than one work unit, and while you might not work directly with them on a day to day basis, they oversee your department and make important decisions on your part of the budget. This is what we call remote supervision. It might also be possible that he is steping in for someone else who couldn't conduct this second interview. Or perhaps he is just really good at "reading" candidates.

because you will work with and for the district manager.as district manager she/he is responsible for the entire district and i am sure has a lot to say about who does what, when and how. this meeting may not be on a whim but instead was scheduled as soon as the district manager confirmed she/he would be in the area. good luck.

This sounds like a typical situation. Because the DM is overseeing several locations in different states/towns, his schedule may be hard to pin down. Once they have the information and can schedule meetings, that's when you get the call. It is unlikely that you will "never" see the DM, and frankly may be doing work with his clients when they are on property. DM's, just like General Managers have a lot at stake with regard to how their guests are taken care of, and it is not unusual for them to be part of the interview process for most jobs that have direct customer contact.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
