Our buffet meal for our wedding comes with a selection of different deserts, should I still bother with buying additional cake for the guests? We are not buying a "picture" cake for us, for the reason thats its just one more cost.

well we are not getting a wedding cake. i've seen them go to waste so often. and we have dessert being served as well. not to mention the 3 dollar cutting per person price. but if you're into that then yes have it as some will find it cute watching the bride & groom feed each other.

If desserts are included, don't bother with the cake!

No, don't get a wedding cake if that's not what you guys want. This is YOUR day, so THIS is the time to be selfish and make your wedding how YOU want it! And if there IS no wedding cake, and just different deserts instead, your guests might actually find that refreshing. They might enjoy how you made your wedding buffet a little "different". So, I'd say, go with NO CAKE! Good Luck! ^_^

Dessert is dessert: I don't think you have to have a cake at all. In our case, dessert is served with dinner (apple tart and vanilla ice cream), but we have a particular fondess for cupcakes. So, we're serving cupcakes around 10:00 p.m. We're having an open bar and figure cake and coffee at 10:00 might slow down the drinking.

do whatever you want. It's your day. If dessert is included skip the cake. You can always feed eachother something else if you do decide to have that picture
