I am planning on getting married at 11 am or 1 pm, which reception following, and was wondering for those who have had it early, if its wise to do so. My dad is against the 11am time frame. because he doesn't think we'll have enough time. So I'm thinking of doing 1am ceremony and 2:30 reception. But what do you serve at 2:30 besides cake? any ideas are helpful please!

i had my wedding reception right after the 2pm ceremony. we still served dinner. because even though your reception starts at 230pm it will be going in to dinner time so you can still serve dinner.

I rather have the 11AM wedding ceremony. That way the food will be consider as lunch. If you have it at 2:30PM then people already ate lunch and not hungry for dinner yet. If you do it at 11AM then:1. 11AM til about 11:15AM - Ceremony2. 11:15AM-11:45AM - Reception (Hors d' oeuvres and Bar)3. 11:45AM - Bride/Groom/Entourage Grand Entrance. Follow with first dance of the newly weds.4. 12PM - Toast5. 12:15 PM - food to be servedThe rest is up to you. You can do newly wed/parents dance (bride with dad and groom with mom), cake cutting, garter toss, etc on your own time.

My friend had her wedding at 11 am and I had to plead with her to do it. She originally talked about having it at 9am and I knew she wouldn't have enough time and tried to get her to 1pm we compromised at 11am and she ran late on the wedding starting because there wasn't enough time. 1pm is much better. I do a light lunch she had sandwich wraps for her reception and the were very good. She also got married in September in Florida so something light was really good. Maybe even just offer hor' der ves or appetizers.

I understand that your dad may have some say so; perhaps he's paying for it; but when the dust settles; it's still your day; your plans...right? It's not enough time for what? You're dealing with adults. Tell your wedding party what time to be where they are suppose to be & be done with it. They can get there hair done the night before; or either make arrangements for the hairstylist to work out plans for the wedding party the day of. I love an early wedding; I had a destination wedding in Jamaica; we got married at 11:30 am. My sister also is planning to marry early. It's inexpensive; she served brunch at her reception it's very cost effective. Her menu is fresh fruit, belgum waffles w/ strawberries, home frieds, quiche, bacon, sausage, coffees, teas, momosas, yogurt & granola.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
