| So we are planning a destination wedding the UK. As part of it we are treating our relatives and close friends to a week long trip in London we are paying for different outings for our guests to come along with us, as an option, during our celebration week (football game, tour of the country side, etc) Because of this we have hired a 2 photo journalists who will literally be meeting us at the airport the day we leave and staying with us for the week, and taking photos at the wedding and all of these outings. So my question is should we treat them as a guests (i.e. we are giving our guests bags for the plane ride ipod nanos pre loaded with a few TV shows and music, along with magazines, etc should they receive one? Same goes with welcome bags, etc) I am saying yes, as number one it is polite, and number two I believe it will encourage them to do the best they can. I mean I know normally you wouldn't give them favors but this is a bit different right?If you call up your local store and say you will order 70 ipods they will sell them for like 29 bucks a pop, at least around here.We are so excited about it! hahaNo they are meeting us at the airport in Jersey.We are paying for their trips and incidentals as part of the contract |

| iPod Nanos! WOW!I think if they're staying with you for the week, it would be nice to treat them as guests. You need to build a relationship with them as well as the rest of your guests. And yes, they will work harder if they feel valued. I don't know about the plane stuff though; they're meeting you in the UK airport? They wouldn't need the iPods, since they're not going on a plane. |

| Wow! I'd love to be a guest at your wedding. I think it would be nice to create gift bags for the photographers. Maybe not the same gifts you are giving to family and friends, but something to let them know they are appreciated. It's a good idea to begin on good terms with them since they will be with you throughout your vacation. Have a great time and congrats! |

| if you are going to this extent as to have them travel with you then yes i would give them an ipod and i would also give both of them $300. up front as incidental monies, for their tips, gum, a drink, ect. this would ensure their cooperation.i would also give them a detailed list ( you can write ideas as they occur to you) of pix you want, that is, if you want pix of the whole group, your parents, your parents with you, the castle exterior, you getting into a limo, ect ect it would help if they had guidelines. i once assumed a photographer would take wonderful pictures of my entire party, the table settings, the guests, the cake, the band, well, when i got the pictures back most of them were of the beautiful young women that were in attendance. not one of the back yard, the tables, ect. i learned a lot from that one. |

| I don't think I would give them a gift bag. You are paying them for their work...why give them something that says "here, have fun while you are here" when they aren't there to have fun, they are there to do a job. If you were having a chef staying with you to cook for your guests you wouldn't give him a present. And they shouldn't have to be "encouraged to do the best they can" by recieving gifts from their client. Another thought- I would find it unprofessional of them to accept the gift. A lot of companies have policies about that... but in the long run...do whatever will make you happy... |
