As we are planning a destination wedding my fiancé and I were just going to skip favors all together but I have since changed my mind as I would like my guests some little thing to remember our wedding. We are going to be giving each of our guests an umbrella (as London is quite well known for its rainy days!) http://www.outblush.com/women/images/2007/03/sky-umbrella.jpgBut since we are having them all flown in the day before the wedding I was wondering if it would be odd to give them all their favors when the bus brings them to the hotel (along with their oyster cards, room keys, welcome bags, etc) As we have luxury buses taking them to and from the wedding location I think 70 umbrellas would be annoying to have all around, and might be forgotten on the bus.Oh my on the bus would be terrible! No, no in the lobby of the hotel Smile

Not at all! I work at a hotel, and it is common for the guests staying for weddings to receive gift baskets, or wedding gifts/favors upon thier arrival.

I think it is an adorable idea! Will you have a little hanging tag with your names and the date?I think it is a great idea to give them the favor beforehand. Congrats and best of luck!

Hi. Do you mean give them everything ON the bus coming to the hotel? OR, when they get to the hotel, the items will be waiting for them?I LOVE your idea. Very thoughtful and a great idea. Yes, the residents of London never go anywhere without their umbrellas. (I have a sister who lived there for 5 years.)Anyway, I think it would be a good idea to have all the items in their rooms....the umbrella, oyster cards, welcome bags, etc. OR....meet everyone in the lobby and give them the items since you also mentioned you will be giving them their room keys.Good luck!

I think it is a grand idea! I would be grateful for the thought. and it would be nice if you gave me heads up, so I would not drag one from home! Edpecially if home is an airplane trip away, and I live in, say, sunny Spain! Find the kind that fold up into the handle, and pop open on the push of a button. Mine has a strap to carry it on a wrist. That kind might be a little more expensive, but might be worth it. Fewer left behinds, if I could fold it up, put it in my purse or the carry all bag that you also gave me, hint, hint. {And I have another that folds up, but is not push button, bought one like that at Dollar General for $4}. Some carry all bags have a pocket on the outside suitable for carrying a folded umbrella. If you want them all to look alike, or be recognizable as a wedding party member when out and about, think fabric paint, and a tasteful design, maybe a cute border in your wedding color. I took that cue from the picture of your umbrella that your had, with the clouds on it.

No, that wouldn't be odd. In fact, you might even be able to make arrangements with the hotel to have them in the guests rooms when they arrive. Of course, you'll obviously need to know what names the rooms are all under. Call the hotel and ask if they can do that for you.
