I'm planning a wintery themed wedding and have a couple questions about what you all thought about the following two songs for the ceremony. We want unexpected, non-traditional music, but I also don't want to weird out my guests with my song selections! For the wedding party to walk down to: Danny Elfman's Ice Dance. For me to walk w/ my dad: Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.Do these two songs seem to work well together? Is Moonlight Sonata too depressing sounding for the guests (I happen to find it beautiful, but...)? Also, any suggestions for the recessional, that would work well with these two? Thanks a bunch!!Ok, so I am def. keeping Ice Dance, but am rethinking Moonlight Sonata...how about the theme from Cirque du Solei "O." I'd only use the first minute of it (I hope it only takes that long to walk down the aisle), b/c I'd like to cut it off before the drum starts. Thanks for all the feedback!!

You have awesome taste! I love the Ice Dance...I don't know about a piece in a minor key for a wedding...If you like Beethoven, how about the 2nd movement to the Pathetique sonata (op. 13)??- it has the beauty and solemnity you desire but not the minor key.For recessional how about "The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" by Handel??EDIT: If you used the Cirque du Soleil, a pianist could very easily make an arrangement from that theme (then no drum problem Smile

You must talk to the people at the church where you are getting married. Most churches will not allow secular music to be played and unfortunately even Beetoven comes under this lable. IMHO The Moonlight Sonata is too somber and too slow for a wedding march.

I love Moonlight Sonata, it's a beautiful piece of music. But if you are having second thoughts what about Vivaldis Four Seasons ? It's a little more upbeat and it's familiar to a lot of people.
