I plan on having my wedding in mid-August this year!Mind you I am in Texas so it is going to be oober hot outside, the wedding is going to be at dusk.Being so hot, would it be appropriate to have lasagna for the dinner? (We can get a great deal from a local caterer and we love italian food!)I love the italian food theme, but what kind of colors would go with it? My dress is going to be ivory, and I haven't really decided on a color scheme yet. Would it work with dark green, ivory, and another color? (But what would the other color be???)And what kind of decorations would resemble being italian??I'm just so confused and need advice!!!Thanks so much |

go to davidsbridal.com and check out the dresses. i think that bronze, dark brown is really pretty. you can even do a light green accents but have your bridesmaids wear like a dark chocolate brown. it's really flattering in pictures. as far as food is concencerned, you should serve some lasagna for dinner, maybe bruschetta, and some green salad and pasta salad...also for drinks you can serve some limoncelo...it's good, very refreshing, and alcoholic!decorations, i think you should use simple things. like nothing too extravagant. less is better because then all the attention will be focused on you and your husband! especially in pictures and stuff :0) good luck! and have fun.

You should carry the wedding colors through to the dinner. Forget that you need italian colors you don't.Use flowers or candles to decorate the tables.Do a buffet, let everyone serve themselves.Keep all the wedding colors flowing into the dining area.Look at the wedding ideas that Paul suggested.Have plenty of iced down drinks and have a wonderful wedding.Congratulations.

Well, if you are going towards an Italian theme you can have the colors be green, ivory and a lovely burnt orange. I think the burnt orange color with the green would look lovely at dusk. I would say you could do a red color, but it may look to much like Christmas. I don't see any problems with serving lasagna, although you might want to offer your guests another dish or a cold macaroni salad...For the flowers you can use some orange gerbera daisies. They are very affordable...and a nice bright flower as well. Plus, they come in lots of different colors. Here are a few pictures that might help. Good luck...sounds like it will be beautiful!http://69.90.174.252/photos/thumb_small/6049/6049,1125918627,3.jpghttp://www.post-a-rose.com/prod_cat/images/bouquet_gerberas.jpghttp://www.clareflorist.co.uk/ProdImages/flowers/floristselect61.jpghttp://reginabridals.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/img_8468.jpghttp://www.glamourousgowns.co.uk/green.jpghttp://www.glamourousgowns.co.uk/greenbrownmood.jpghttp://lh3.google.com/_hch7gWK-_20/Rm2Ba3yh4PI/AAAAAAAAAHs/yTkHqcL7678/s800/WedDecorTables1.jpg

I think lasagna would work okay as long as you have lots of iced drinks and some cooler things like cold appetizers or something. It's 80 degrees right now here which is HOT for this time of year. It should still be 50's and I'm roasting. I can only imagine this August and right now Lasagna doesn't sound appetizing lol. If you love italian food, do the lasagna and then do a second option that may be a little lighter and/or cooler or do a italian buffet.Any color's you choose will go with the food. You could choose orange and blue and it would still go with the food. No one matches things to the food. Now if you wanted to do an italian theme it doesn't have to be the colors of the flags just look at many pictures of italy and what inspires the colors of italy? I think golds, ivory, greens, reds, and blues. But if it's just the theme for your food choices any colors are game. If you are thinking ivory and green... pink goes great with both! So does purple and blue. The way I picked my colors was by trying to incorperate my favorite colors (purple pink and orange like a sunset) into the wedding. I knew silver would have to be part of my color scheme because my dress had silver details. From there I went and started looking for my bridesmaids dresses. When I found the perfect one, which happened to be purple, I focused on my favorite flowers... which are orchids. Orchids come in a gorgeous purple so purple was it for me. It ended up being white purple and silver. If it weren't for the dresses and flowers I wanted I might have chose pink and orange and would have been just as happy. But this was the easiest way to do it.Hope that helped!!!

First, congratulations!Second, take a breath, relax. There is so much out there, you have to start with what you like the most. Colors: Remember, once you pick a color, it will most likely be everywhere, from the flowers, tablecloths, candles, bridesmaid/groomsmen outfits etc. Also remember that certain dress colors are harder to find depending on what time of the year it is. Your food does not have to match your "signature color/s". Also keep in mind what colors would look good on your bridesmaids. I picked David's bridal apple red. My wedding is in June. I only have my sister as my matron of honor and a friend as my bridesmaid and they both look great in red. They have very different body types so I told them they could get any dress they liked as long as it was apple red. They were very happy with that decision. Remember, the happier your bridal party, the smoother the wedding will go.Food: If you like Italian, there are lighter things than lasagna like antipasto, mozzarella & tomato salads etc. How about something buffet style so people have some choices? Buffet style is usually cheaper than sit down dinners and you could still have lasagna too.Last suggestion, go to www.weddingchannel.com. It was a great help to me. It's free to register and they have all sorts of tools to help you plan your wedding like a checklist, registry, budget calculator and tools to help you find local vendors such as photographers, DJ's, and florists etc. Also, you can create a free wedding website. Really cool. Good luck!

Hi and congratulations!First of all, if you want to do an Italian food theme (for the food), that is fine....but you don't have to carry it through to the colors for your wedding if you don't want to. You can go with totally different colors! Of course, the Italian flag colors are red, green and white, so if you like those colors and want to use them....by all means....that is YOUR choice.I LOVE lasagna, but I would not serve that as your dinner. On such a hot night, to be honest, it would not appeal to me. Also, lasagna can be very messy! There are other Italian dishes you can serve up. Why not Italian meatballs, cold pasta salads, etc. I love the light green color like this:http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=a1c99ee0-bc6e-42f8-b90b-4c2230ad2daf&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0I think of more "light" colors for a hot summer night than dark green. But again, it's totally up to you!

Italians love wine so use that as your central theme. Grapes, wine, cheese, pasta..... your dress ivory is pasta colored, use deep plums or burgundy for the wine/grapes color and of course the green from the grape leaves.Along with Lasagna, if you serve buffet style, why not do a Pasta bar:3 different pastas (naked) ie: linguini, penne and bowtieMarinara sauce with Meatballs White Alfredo SauceGreen Creamy Pesto SauceTossed green salad with tomatoes, olives, feta cheeseYummy garlic bread I have served this at several weddings and it has by far gotten the most praise of all other foods I have cooked.Ideas for an Italian themed wedding:articles:http://www.weddingthemes.net/italian_wedding_theme.htmhttp://www.knotforlife.com/planning/themes/italian-wedding.shtmlideas:http://www.favorideas.com/wedding-themes/multicultural-themes/a-tuscan-themed-wedding/http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/cat105/p0/index.htmhttp://www.myrajeanscakes.com/grapevine%20design.JPGhttp://www.italy-weddings.net/services/cakes.htmhttp://img.davidsbridal.com/db/s07_f11165.psd.xml&cmp-color=top,x7C344C&ftr=5&cmp-end=1&wid=330&hei=460&cvt=jpghttp://www.flickr.com/photos/oitcpics/2319351865/http://www.flickr.com/photos/totac/2009613064/http://www.flickr.com/photos/dotd/243431037/in/set-1390620/best wishes..................

Really not trying to discourage you but lasagna sounds way to heavy on the stomach. It is going to be hot, and your guest will be hungry. You don't want people eating such a filling food only because there is nothing else to eat.Well, what comes to mind to me for hot weather is having a Mexican buffet type of meal. OK, stick with me...Picture taco's with fresh veggies, cold salsa, and cool sour cream. This way people can eat, but light...oh and most important some Corana's to wash it all down...This can also stay in the color scheme you are looking for.Hope this helps
