For my DREAM wedding, I'm in a long term relationship, but not engaged or have a house YET...I want to have my wedding reception at my new house (with a big yard). We would be welcomed with wildflower seeds as confetti when we arrive at the reception. Each guest or family would receive a baby tree and a small metal plaque. They would be able to engrave their names (or have someone do it for them), and a special message to the bride and groom on their plaque, then plant the baby tree somewhere in the yard, and hang the plaque on the tree. When the trees grow big enough I would nail the plaque to the trunk of the tree. Then, my groom and I would be able to see the trees and special messages whenever we walk through the yard. Is this a good idea? How would you feel, as a guest, if this was one of the "activities" at the reception? I'm a nature lover and would love to have a yard full of trees & flowers I would have trowels and gardening gloves available to the people planting trees! :)Yes, I also love the idea for planting a tree for each child that is born, or each family member who passes away, just not at my wedding! hahaYes, and whenever I have guests over at my house, they can see how "their" tree is doingI'm pretty sure a nail wouldn't kill the tree once it is big enough, there are lots of trees in my area (on hiking trails and in parks) that have signs and markers nailed onto them, which have been there for years and years - and the trees are doing great! |

This is your wedding so whatever you like goes. I think that it would be quite messy unless you provide tools to lessen such mess but otherwise, I think it would be great. suggestion though, why not have one tree represent something special that you did together with that guest so you'll have memories as well of that person. |

| Well, make sure that the guests understand that they will be getting dirty, digging in the ground. and if you are ok with wildflowers coming up her and there in your yard, and with trees planted randomly, maybe somewhere you would not have put one, then, well, do what you want. It is a little different for a wedding. |

| That sounds like an interesting idea and shows you are a nature lover.as a guest I would feel very happy to write a msg on such a plaque since the msg will stay with the tree forever and not just you and your groom will see them when they grow up also your kids will see them too and inspire them to be nature lovers too. Congratulations and Good Luck always. |

| Its a great idea but, if you nail the plaque to the tree, the nail will poison the tree and kill it. |
