| Yes it would be inappropriate, but I agree with you. People today dress terribly...with no regard to formality and such. On the bottom of your reception invitation card to the left of the card, put "Black Tie and Formal Wear" Do not put the word "requested". People will get the idea believe me. |

| you cannot write that. you can't expect them to know what you mean by appropriate. you have to tell them if it's formal dress or casual dress. |
