I am throwing a bridal shower for my friends wedding and I am splitting the cost with two other bridesmaids... We already purchased a couple things off her registry ( a wicker hamper to use as her "wishing well", a recipe box for people to bring recipes to the shower and a couple of small kitchen gadgets to start her "wishing well" off) Should we be buying her a gift on top of everything else? As awful as this sounds I feel like I've already spent more enough on her... (does that make me sound like a bad friend).

No it doesn't make you sound like a bad friend. Being part of a wedding party is an expensive job. I think that you can put your names on those gifts that you have already purchased and she will know the great expense you went to in order to give her a great shower. I also think that you could give her something small to symbolize your friendship or something special that might not be on the registry so you don't have to spend a lot of money, just put some thought into it and I'm sure she will appreciate it!

As a bride to be....I am not expecting my bridesmaid or maid of honor to buy me anything off my registry, due to they are spending so much money on the bridal shower and food and all that stuff...if you have already did those lil things I personally do not think you should "have" to buy her anyting else...it is up to you.

No there's no need into buying her a gift because of the things listed in you question you've already bought her gifts. so the answer is no.

No you don't sound like a bad friend. You guys can all put your names on the stuff you bought for the shower. That should be enough. Definitely buy a wedding present tho.

Actually there does need to be an official gift. So why not put a small gift card like the ones in the stationery store near the wrapping paper on each item . Tie one to the hamper, and one to the recipe box. Yes no one ever gets how expensive it is and nowadays a lot brides have so much. Before, showers were necessary since the bride was leaving her parents home and had no pots and pans!

I agree with you that you have done more than enough and that no additional gift is required. As someone who is throwing a bridal shower and has already spent $300.00 in doing so, I can sympathize.

It sounds like you DID get gifts for the bridal shower already!! Even though they were joint gifts, they are still gifts, and you should be sure to put a tag on them saying who they are from, so she knows who to thank. You can get a gift for the wedding, but youve done plenty already for the bridal shower.

She'll now how much you did for her. But in the last min you think you should. Just run out and buy her something that cost $20 or less. Like:a necklace, glasses for the kitchen, just something small. Go to Wal-mart or Target.

No, you have already helped purchase bridal gifts. Now you just need the wedding gift. It's expensive, isn't it?? I was in two weddings in one month and thought I might have to take out a loan!!!! |
