| Is there a good career asssessment out there? I've been told I'm a creative person. I'm pretty creative when it comes to clothes, interior decorating, graphics design and even photography. I've also been told many times that I'm a good writer. I also love to travel and help others. Currently, I work in the financial industry and have been in the same industry for 10 years now. I must say it is not very fulfilling, and I want to do something else with my life, considering a job takes most of my day. |

| Ugh, financial industry will kill you slowly.I have done it for 10+ years myself. I am also 30 & I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up but I can tell you this...I'm closer because I know what I DON"T want to do... |

| hmmmm...do you enjoy the creative things you mentioned? Would you like to do them as a job?You could pursue that.If you're looking for something that's your own, try starting a home business. |

| You answered your own question. You want to do something with designing. Why not be an entrepreneur since you have some business background and you want to go into the art field? |

| First you should congratulate yourself for having a work ethic. That is rare in and of itself. It is true that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. Keep in mind that you are very young at the age of 30 and have had limited exposures to possibilities. By devoting yourself to a single industry for the last ten years you are likely to be well paid in your field and comfortable in your life style, Moving into another industry will require a certain amount of financial backtracking. I hope you are in a position where your life style mantains sufficient flexibility to adjust to temporary downward adjustments. Contact employment agencies seeking non-permanent work assignments in industries and businesses of interest to you. You might check out a dozen or more fields before you find one that is particularly interesting or rewarding. Non-permanent jobs have a habit of turning into full permanent employment opportunities or lead to contacts to interesting and possibly never considered opportunities. Keep your expenses and committments light and try a number of life slices. You will find a job you enjoy and it will lighten life's economic burden. Good Luck. |

| This is a tough question. My wife who turned 60 last February had been in the same boat as you for a long time. She tried to be a teacher, travel agent, administrative assisstant, store keeper, bar tender, recteation director, etc., etc., without finding a career she is happy with. Sometime around two years ago, she began to think that ministry is what she wants to do. After a long agonizing deliberation with herself, she finally enrolled in a seminary last fall. Ever since, she has been happy, energetic, and fulfilled. The point is that one has to be patient, but also must not be afraid to try a variety of career paths until she/he finds one which he/she enjoys and feels satisfaction. This is probably not an answer you are looking for, but it seems to be the only real answer. Good luck in looking for, and finding a career that will suit you and will make you fulfilled and happy. |

| Been there done that - finances sucks the life out of good ppl!!Find something that doesn't pay as well but is heart warming - like teaching - that is what I think I am going to do (I am taking a leave of absence from working right now, till I figure out a new plan) - or of course there is nursing - they at least get paid a lot! |

| Sounds like you are a little restless and change will do you good. I've heard successful entrepreneurs advise "follow your heart". Or something similar. Those words are easy to say, but can lead to personal devastation if you are truly not prepared for adventure. You apparently have diverse interests and the way you described yourself I had an immediate image of a person that works with architects and owners as casinos, hotels, restaurants, etc. are built. Your finance background would give you an edge over your competition because you can better relate the financial interests of the owner....something many interior designers totally fail to comprehend. |
