Get up before dawn to be at the beach before sunrise or just before dusk around dinner time. Contrast is too high during mid day.

Wait until sunset. Also, right after sunset is good too.

well since the sun rises in the east the best time for you to get a horizon shot would be in the morning but if you are just looking to get some scenery then either sunset or sunrise are the best, full light can be too harsh, especially when reflecting off the sand.

well for pretty pictures of the ocean and sky....iv always liked the ones that are taken when the sun sets or rises, also when its like a cloudy day and some clouds are dark like its about to storm and the ocean is rough.....gl

Mid day is seldom a good for photos anywhere, unless that overpowering high light source is what you a re looking for.Sunrise and sunset pictures are sometimes a little cliche'. Don't let the sky in all of it's wonder be the "subject" of the photo. At this link is one of my favorite beach shots.www.fletchercreations.com / creativeSilhouetted shapes can work real well, and make the finding the right exposure a little easier. For this beach shot I bracketed over 5 stops to find the right one. This is hugely important when your scene is changing. The available lighting will change rapidly, and constant metering is required.Digital is cheap, so bracket bracket bracket! And think fill flash!

Just as the sun is setting, you get some gorgeous lighting and colours. Just remember if you decided to shoot after the sun has set you might need a tripod. If you're shutter goes below 1/30.

The first hour of the day and the last hour of the day are almost always best for outdoor/nature photography. You do the math on what time that would be.Conversely, stormy weather often makes for good photo opportunities at any time of the day.

The "golden hour" is one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset.

Best times would be at sunrise or sunset.I like to take a few 15min before sunrise/sunset, a few at sunrise/sunset, and a few 15min after sunrise/sunset.

When I go to Florida its an hour ahead there or Eastern time. I LOVE taking photo at the beach between 4 and 6 pm. The sun has less of a glare and makes the pictures more clear.
