| I went to pastry school during high school and have personal experience but I get frustrated because I always make a mess and I feel I never have enough of the right tools and tricks! Any advise? |

| It may be worthwhile to get an apprenticeship at a bakery that specializes in wedding cakes. That way, you can earn money while you learn from an expert in the biz. You will also be able to learn which tools you prefer without investing in a lot that you will never use. You'll be able to observe first hand also how to do the business aspect of cake baking.Good luck! |

| take a course in community college relating to this. find out what tools are neccessary. keep detailed lists and records. be the person who delivers exactly what you promise when you promise. this is the real secret of success. read 'how successful people win' by ben stein. |

| Here are some things that I have many extras of:pans- different sizes and shapes 2 to 3 sets each =great when making tier cakes when they want more than 1 of something (satelite cakes)tips- lots of these I have 4 size 104's big and small easier to have extras when using different icings and colorsextra bags- same reason as abovewilton books, and also other cake books- just for the picturescake boards and cake boxes they come in different colors and sizes.if you are going to be working with fondant or gumpaste probably extra tools of the ones you use the most.lots of practice and take pictures of everything you make to create a portfolio. also any letters (good ones) notes etc.. that any customers send or give you--sometimes these are better than pictures.well thats all I can think of at the moment.Have Fun |
