| I'd say give $20 at the most, less is best because it's only a co-worker. |

| Actually the person collecting the money should have just given everyone an amount. That's what we do at my job. It's usually about $10 each since there is over 10 people in my department. Some people give more and some people give less but the person collecting the money never publicizes what people give. So you have to give what you are comfortable with. Since you are still fairly new, I think $10 is a decent amount. |
