| I live overseas and have a 5 year old daughter in the US, that I do not know very well (had her out of wed-lock while married to another women). I pay a lot a month for child support.I am trying to get the courts to believe that I have "defacto estrangement" from my daughter just in case we ever have to argue again about joint legal custody (I have not requested visitation, due to my family situation).My daughters mother just sent an email setting up a time where I can have a web cam chat with my daughter once a month. I am not really into having a relationship with her (too complicated, and the mother and I do not get along). Do you think that these visits are set up solely to thwart my argument over being estranged from my daughter? What would happen if I do not participate in them? |

| No one can do anything to you just because you refuse to have any communication with her. The courts just need your money to support her and nothing else. Its the mother that wants you in her life and there is no law that says you must see or speak with your daughter. I will give you credit for being honest, you have your reasons why you want nothing to do with her, maybe she is better off not knowing her real father. |

| You need to stop thinking about yourself and about legalities and start thinking about your daughter. Did it even occur to you that she is asking questions about who her father is? Did you think that maybe this might be good for her? It sounds to me like the mother is trying to find a way that the two of you can connect that will allow her to connect with a parent (miserable though you might be) and keep the peace at the same time.Guys like you are the ones who give all men trying to get visitation, joint custody, and custody a bad name. It isn't about money you know, it is about doing what is right for an innocent child. So step up and start acting like a father instead of sperm donor. |

| Hay bud its a drag what you are going Thue but I have been there.you may be doing this for yourself not you kid ,look she is 5 and your not barney. she don't know you and you will never be her dad, father yes dad no. i know you are paying but don't try to get you moneys worth let her Mommy find her a real daddy and send a card for her birthday and someday she may call |
