It all basically depends on how you want your wedding style. If you want non traditional i would go with the bbq. But if you want something elegant i would do a sit down dinner. It also depends on the time of day you're having your reception. if it late at night some people may have already eaten and you could just serve hor dorves

SIt down and make a list of the foods you love and that your family and friends will eat. There is no law that says you have to serve what everyone else is just because it's a wedding.

I love a pig roast! You could maybe make it sort of a Hawaiian luau theme, with leis and tiki torches, and yummy pineapple drinks in hollowed our coconuts! LOL. I don't know, every time I go to a wedding with a stuffy sit-down dinner and elegant, foofy food, I have a lame time, and every time I go to just a fun one with BBQ or whatever in a laid-back casual atmosphere, I always have so much fun!! Just make sure you get a great band or DJ to play, since music is what makes it memorable. If you do a luau, maybe they could play the Limbo!!

If your wedding and/or reception is scheduled between 3PM and 7PM you should serve a three course dinner. If your ceremony and reception is scheduled at 7PM or later than you should serve "lite fare" items which means appetizers or sandwiches or deli items or cold chicken or salads or an assortment of desserts or just wedding cake and punch/champagne. Wedding guests do not want to eat a big, heavy meal after 7PM. And how do I know this? Because I just watched hundreds of dollars worth of food being ignored after a "sunset" wedding two weeks ago. The Bride and Groom insisted on having "a big dinner" at 8PM.A barbeque is a great idea for casual or informal weddings but if you are wearing a formal wedding gown, having a barbeque is not a good idea. Why? Because barbeque sauce and a lovely white wedding gown do not go together. Answered by: A Certified wedding specialist / a Professional bridal consultant / A Wedding ceremony officiant

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa...easy girl, it's 14 months away! Don't get too carried away with planning too quickly or you'll make yourself and your fiance crazy, trust me. Just get the venue reserved and hold off on the rest of it until fall. Just enjoy the engagement.

First of all congratulations to you both. That sounds lovely. What about a potato salad, egg salad, and coleslaw. For desert cup cakes seem to be very popular from what i've seen.Helium balloons would be nice.Fairy lights everywhere. We went to a wedding with fairy lights and it made the party feel warm and fuzzy and was absolutely beautiful.Good luck and may your lifes journey be spent together forever///
