We've decided to get married on the beach in Orange Beach Alabama (we live in Alabama) Does/has anyone had a wedding on the beach any helpful hints would be appreciated. Do you know any good reception venue locations?Any little details like the flip flop basket is cute any others?Options to the unity candle and something for loved ones passed? What about food and drinks?Entertainment?Wedding favors?Bridesmaid and Groomsmen favors?ANY OTHER IDEAS???I want this to be beautiful and romantic just like every other bride but I'm artistic and a very tight penny pincher and I can decorate most anything. We've decided that our color is turquoise blue and I'm thinking I want one more color incorporated any ideas?Basically, any detail any small idea that you have would be moer than appreciated and more than helpful for me! ANY suggestion is very much WELCOMED. Thanks so much guys!! Oh and if it helps we're looking at an early August wedding.

For the reception I would look around at hotels for banquet Rooms and I would also check into bed and breakfasts. I would invision those little sand in the bottle with the little shells for the favors and a personalized note attached. I would have a collage of the lost loved ones at the ceremony and the reception make one of your wedding party responsible for getting it around. Food and drinks I say some kind of fish and lemonade. Entertainment I would say look for a band or an excellent DJ. Gifts are shown as appreciation for the wedding party going through all of this for you and your fiancee, I am having some jewelry hand made for my girls to wear that day and for all of us I am getting those flasks in my colors so we can have a picture taken of us all toasting. I love your color I think a sand color would work well. It would really represent your theme of the ocean and the beach! I would also say on your invites make them yourself, find some awsome paper and use some of those tiny little starfish with some glitter on them if you like and tie some of that raffia into a bow and add it by the starfish. I think this would be awsome, or you could go very modern and do a picture of the beach and the ocean. If you are crafty just think about what you like and then go surfing and see what kind of stuff you can find to fit into your theme! Good Luck

I got married several years ago but I planned the entire event, my bridemaids dresses were made locally (to save $),we decorated most of the event ourselves. *Pick your color (I picked silver b/c it would easily match with anything and any flowers are gorgeous w/silver)*Compare prices on everything (a flower girl dress on ebay was $36/new and a co-worker bought the exact same one for $120 from a local store)*I found a sterling silver jewelry website and paid less than $100 for bridesmaids and groomsmans gifts (all silver).

Instead of the unity candle, you can do the Sand Ceremony... My daughter did this & it was beautiful.. I ordered a bottle from ebay , decorated a funnel & used two pretty bud vases to pour the sand from.... The ceremony is below..The Couples CeremonyUNITY SAND BLENDING(Groom) and (Bride), you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings and this covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives. The most beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two containers of sand. One represents you (Groom), all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be. The other, representing you (Bride), and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.For your invitation, you can make this yourself... http://www.hansonellis.com/weddinginvitations_beachinvitationsbottle.shtmlThis may give you some ideas...http://www.hansonellis.com/themeweddingfavors_beach.shtml

Make sure you check on the laws & guidelines regarding the use of the beach. You may need a permit.Make sure there are bathrooms nearby. Is smoking allowed? Check the tide schedule, too. You don't want to have to move everything once it's set up.Are you not allowed to grill on the beach? Hot dogs & hamburgers or a clam bake would be great. Big wash tubs with your cans of drinks.A sand ceremony might be better than a unity candle; and I recently did a wedding where the bride had her guests ring little bells in remembrance of those who were deceased. How about kids pails & shovels as centerpieces. Fill with sand & place seashells on top. Or fill glass bowls with colored water & place shells & fake starfish on the bottoms.I'm not a big fan of favors, but lifesavers would work real well, here. Or maybe seashell shaped soaps. And if you can't come up with other music there's always the Beach Boys. :)Good luck!

I don't know if you are having your reception inside or out. But if it is inside, take the beach inside with you. Have seashells and sand dollars and starfish scattered on the tables around your centerpiece. My cousin did the same thing you are doing, (with tourqoise and all) she also had an ivory color and a light blue (but not too light). She found these mosaic vases that had tourquoise and ivory and a beige and blue in them and turned half into centerpieces with a candle in the vase, and the other half of the centerpieces had flowers in them ( i think the flowers were blue hydraneas. She also had small toothpics and drink stirrers that had tiny shells glued to the tops for appetizer picks and drink stirrers. She gave out big white starfish wrapped with a tourquoise ribbon that had a tag that said thanks for sharing our special day on them ( I did not really like that idea. I like edible favors, or none at all and actually her favor is still sitting in my glove compartment from last september). She had several baskets with different bright colored flip flops in them (each seperated by size) but that is b/c her reception was outside too. SO i wouldn't worry about that unless yours is outside too. Most people will just take their shoes off for the ceremony. Instead of the unity candle, you could do the sand thing that is pretty popular now. each of you would pour a different colored sand into one big vase instead of lighting a candle. My cousin had a steel drum band come on friday night where we were all partying on the beach (she had a weekend long shindig) but I would say sticking with a regular band or a D.J. would be the way to keep most people dancing. Hope this helped a little bit.

Well, I have been to only one wedding on a beach. Two of my friends got married in Mexico, and they worked it in to a group vacation we had in one of those all inclusive places.Hope you family and friends are early risers, because I think a sunrise service has more meaning then sunset. Here is one thought. Before the service get one of those big Clam back pots, fill it with all the food you will have at the reception, yet give each item meaning, and state your hope of what it can add to your life together.By the way congratulations.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
