O.k., I have a GREAT wedding favor idea...or at least I think so.On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 the least, 10 the best) how do think about this idea?I am going to have these gorgeous glass bowls, dishes etc (they are beautiful I have them already) and I want to have a 'make your own favor' station. I want to have a nicely set up station at the end of the receiving line at a seperate table where it's all set up with pretty decorated favor boxes, have the containers labeled with what they are, and show them hey, you get to chose what you want to take home as your favor. Mints, Jordan Almonds, about 5 or 6 different little kinds of candy favors. BUT how do I present that to them? I've never heard of it before and I don't want them to get to there table and there is no favor and them wonder why. I don't want to just announce it b/c whether or not it's a good idea or not it sounds cheesy.Should I have something else at there table for them to?How would you present a new idea like that?

It's not a new idea. It's called a candy bar and brides have been doing it for years. You do it at the reception not after the receiving line. You can have the DJ announce it, put a sign up, let it get spread by word of mouth. Have a few people that know what to do and the rest of the guests will follow their lead.

I think it's a good idea. You may need an attendant at the table though to make sure that the first few people take lots and leave nothing for the last few people.Or an alternative would be to box up each different ones and leave them in the middle of the tables at the reception with a note thanking the guests for sharing your special day and please choose a box to take home (that way there are couple of choices one each table).

Place it out and decorate it, make it look as elegant and stylish as you want and put like a title surrounded with flowers or something saying "Wedding Favors" if people are smart than they will know what to do...just place the bags etc there in order so that it will be obvious to everyone what you have to do...

I think this is a really neat idea! You get a 10 for uniqueness!!You could have a placeholder at the table directing them to the favors table. Or, you could set up the favors with the guest book (if you're having one) at the entrance, so each guest would have to pass it on their way to the tables?Just my two cents |

That's a candy buffet. You can put the empty boxes at each place with a tag directing them where to go to fill up their favors.

Maybe have it out right after the ceremony during cocktail hour, while the wedding party does pictures and have them take it away before dinner.

Rather than have a mass table where your guests need to get to in order to put the favours together why not try this...Put a large bowl in the centre of each table with a mixture of all the sweets you want or several small labelled bowls. You can then put a small empty gift bag at each place setting with a tag attached with the guests name on it.This wat your sweets are both a favour, table decoration and placecards in one.You could have a note on the card that says something like <guest name> thankyou for sharing our wedding day. Please fill me with love and lollies

Put little cards at the place settings that say something on the lines of "As a thank you for attending our special day, please help yourselves to the favor bar..."
