I am Catholic, my fiance is Baptist. We have chosen to get married in my church. We are making a few modifications, not having Communion so that the non-Catholics don't feel left out. My priest is open to having his pastor basically do anything in service except adminstering the actual wedding vows from giving the wedding blessing to giving the actual homily. I want to include my fiance's pastor, who has been his pastor for 15 years and will be there as a guest. I don't feel like having him say the homily is a good idea, it almost seems like he would be usurping the whole ceremony from the priest, but leaving him with just the blessing seems like only giving the pastor a small bit. I have never been to a Baptist ceremony and neither has my fiance, are there anything else aside from the blessing to ask his pastor to do, short of having him give the homily? Thanks!

Introduce them (the priests) and let them work it out. If this was going to be hard the hard part would have been convincing them to work together at all. This kind of thing is not uncommon - they'll be able to figure out something equitable in a few minutes.

How has your fiance never been to Baptist ceremony if she is Baptist? I am glad to see the Catholics and Baptists getting along!! I suggest "The Christian Wedding Planner" by R Kent Hughes, who wa the pastor of my non-denominational church for 25 years,. You may have to go to a library to find it since I think it is out of print. It was very helpful for me in planning my ceremony and also has all the denominations order of service and various wordings for things along with the planning itself and reception. Congratulations of your wedding! I hope God will bless both of you and strengthen your marriage.
